“The fruits of chorus boys and girls’ workouts were on display at the Roseland Ballroom during last night’s Broadway Bares 19, the annual dance-and-strip benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.” That’s the lede of the New York Times‘ arts blog coverage of Broadway Bares (Equity Fights AIDS’s annual skinfest fundraiser that went down last night), which is hysterical because, well, it’s the New York Times covering barely clothed gay male performers. Hot, yes, but so was Itay Hod’s behind-the-scenes preview. Photos here.
BB supposely is about aids, but is really just a way to say to straight male dancers “Broadway is all about being gay ..and you don’t belong here”…
·
And that’s discrimination, isn’t it? After all, there are so few places where straight men belong because of gay men.
·
There was 1/2 the crowd last night at Broadway Bares. What a shame. HX was not even present, it was all NEXT.
·
You have to think that straight male dancers on Broadway may have become just a little bit comfortable around gay male dancers. Otherwise, they’d be doing something else for a living. They get to hang around with/date some attractive young women as well.
It’s not something I’d worry about.
·
Actually straight white men are the “new minority”…

I went to my first Broadway Bares last night. So much fun and so sexy.
