Jason Ball, the first openly gay Australian rules footballer, has announced he’ll be running for the federal seat of Higgins in the next national election.
But it won’t be an easy win.

Ball will run with the Green party and challenge two fellow progressives, including another gay candidate and the incumbent who currently enjoys a 10 point lead in the polls.

The Greens leader, Richard Di Natale, says Ball will give the safe Liberal seat a “good shake” at the next federal election.
“If we don’t get over the line this time around, beware the next election,” Di Natale told ABC’s Insiders program on Sunday.
Best of luck, Jason:

So what exactly makes him qualified to run for office?

@sportyguy1983: I don’t know if you’re American, but if you are I’d say that anyone from the country of Ross Perot, George W. Bush, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sarah Palin and Donald Trump shouldn’t be asking that question. It’s pretty hard to find anyone in this country who seems qualified to run for office.
