An increasing number of LGBT films have found their way into theaters in recent years, but few are like Travis Fine’s Any Day Now.
Based on a true story, the period film stars Alan Cumming as Rudy, a struggling singer who encounters Marco (Isaac Leyva), an adolescent with Down syndrome who’s been left to fend for himself. Eventually Rudy and his partner Paul (Raising Hope’s Garret Dillahunt) become Marco’s surrogate parents. But when the courts get involved, and Paul and Rudy’s sexuality becomes an issue, the men find themselves fighting for their unique family.
Any Day Now arrives in select theaters on December 14.

The 70s. And the film is great. Alan Cumming, in particular, is marvelous.
