A few sleazeballs use Grindr to cheat on their boyfriends, but one PhD student thinks they’re using it to cheat on exams…and that it’s all a part of a massive anti-straight conspiracy.
Ok, gurl.
PhD student Amit Kumar Maurya is currently balancing his studies at Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) in Mumbai with publishing conspiracy theories about gays, Grindr, and cheating that are quickly going viral across social media.
His theories are nuts, but apparently his time management skills are on fleek.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
In the note (which he prefaces by dramatically stating that he’s risking his life by sharing this information) he makes a ton of crazy accusations:
“Due to social stigma, gays (LGB) hide their sexual orientation from the society.”
OK, some guys are still in the closet. That’s not so crazy…
“Using internet and smartphones, gays are able to connect with each other.”
…as human beings tend to do, yes.
“Gays use the network to help each other. The gay network is very powerful because of its invisibility, large size, and bonding among members.” “…around 5-10% of MPs, MLAs, local politicians, senior bureaucrats, police officers, billionaires, and top corporate executives must be gays.”
At this point, the train to crazytown is boarding…and then he pretty much unleashes the motherlode.
It’s a ranty, labyrinthine complex of gay conspiracies leading to college admissions, cheating on exams, and “scams” that run back at least 10 years. Read it and weep:
The only thing that’s missing is the masked orgy, but we’re pretty sure that’ll be in the sequel.
And in case you think Maurya is super homophobic, he’d like to remind you that he supports “gay rights but not gay wrongs.” Whatever that means.
Sebastian Holiday
For me – please, please stop saying ‘gays’ – gay men we are, gay women, boys, girls, people.
Kangol
Closet case.

“Gays use the network to help each other. The gay network is very powerful because of its invisibility, large size, and bonding among members.”
But it’s a force for good! (Well, at least for setting the world to rights by sheer bitchiness and humour as opposed to building weapons of war or imposing taxes on the poor)
…around 5-10% of MPs, MLAs, local politicians, senior bureaucrats, police officers, billionaires, and top corporate executives must be gays.”
Cribbing off the old Kinsey report? This also means that a staggering 90-95% of politicians/senior bureaucrats, police officers, billionaires etc. must be straights! 95% vs 5%? And this guy is a PhD student?
In other news, Scruff is a means of insider trading due to gay stockbrokers sharing info, Ashley Madison was haked by a group of sick subscribers to Boy Ahoy, and the saviour of the great wide world is the founder of Tinder!
The loony bin awaits, Amit. Let’s hope that the orderlies aren’t members of the sect of Growlr!
Colin McCoy
He overestimates Grindr’s userbase. Most users won’t even remember any other users’ names, much less be able to recognize them from a college application.
Kevin J Desmond
I have a couple of friends who are on Grindr and all they do is check other guys and not homework, sounds to me like that PhD student is on Grindr and gets no action.
Adam Van Dale
He’d fit in great in the Bible Belt with the republicans
Kevin Stoneking
I have seen Grindr used for so many reasons but shooting on an exam is a new one
dahunt
Agree w/commmenter #1; “gay people”, and I use it to refer to all the sexual minorities.
NoCagada
I bet he has some very male based sexual fantasies in that tight head.
Giancarlo85
You shouldn’t even read his comment. Just look for how many times he says “gay”. Is he trying to tell us something? And how would he know about grindr and meeting with gay men?”
I’m 1,000,000% sure he has a Grindr profile himself. Of course, he’s straight and is only there to do “research”.
Giancarlo85
If I counted right he wrote “gay” 13 or 14 times… maybe I missed one or two times he said it, but that’s my count.
It’s funny how a bigot uses the word “gay” more than gay people do, and talks about gay sex and hook-ups more than gay men. Again, I think he’s trying to tell us something.
Xzamilio
@Adam Van Dale: Not with that name. They’d be screaming “9/11” and “Murica” while they’re lighting their torches and sharpening their pitchforks.
1EqualityUSA
It says more about him than he realizes…
JessPH
I wish Grindr already existed when I was in college.
Kangol
@JessPH: I know!
Nahald
I hope that paper isn’t a thesis for a class because if it is he’ll surely flunk.
JackFknTwist
If this is a Ph.D. student, then the college admissions department had better up its game. Where’s that “university” ? Toytown ?
This is all Neanderthal surmise and conjecture and blather; unbefitting an undergraduate in high school.
What drivel.
Hillers
This is from a PhD student? It has all the grammar prowess of something spat out by Google Translate. I get that that’s a low blow as the person is obviously a non-native speaker of English, but hey, tit for tat.
KiwiJello
Translation: The LGBT community are all ignorant fools who couldn’t possibly succeed in college without cheating.
Even though using Grindr to cheat would be a whole new level of genius, the idea that it would even be needed is insulting.
Just one more person trying to make someone else’s life more difficult. Everyone cheer for BIGOTRY!!! YAY!!!…ugh
rand503
So Regnerus moved to India?
dubstepskater
Ok, not wanting to sound like a bigot… But when did we allow members of ISIS to get Ph.D.? (the only reason I make this comment is in hopes that anyone like this fool can see how ignorant they sound when they spew their vile opinions about a group of people that they “choose” to hate). And also, I have to agree with some of these comments: This fool is just bitter because he’s been on Grindr for waaaaayyyy too long and nobody has sent him a “WASSUP?” or “YOU LOOKING?”. And he probably has either a butt ass ugly photo or one of those “blank” profiles that has no pic, no profile, and not even a name…. Who agrees?
Oh and anybody who is on Grindr or knows someone who has a Grindr account knows we only use that shit for hook-ups, not to get into college… This moron is ignorant… Next thing you’ll hear is the Gays control the Illuminati… Lol
Garth
What a freakiin’ nut bar!
DutchGay
Oh come on people ! Isn’t it obvious that this is a publicity stunt ? “Please Xerox and distribute”… it’s nothing more than those chain-letters from a decade or 2 ago. It’s probably from a journalism student that is testing how easy it is to have sites publish [intentional] rubbish like this. Well done; the student succeeded (which is not too hard with Queerty copying any bullshit remotely gay-themed…)
Trevor Kramer
LOL… “At this point, the train to crazytown is boarding…”
Giancarlo85
@DutchGay: Nice theory. Not really substance based.
garrettkam
And what makes him think that “straight” students aren’t cheating, too? If anyone is or isn’t cheating, then it really seems to be his very poor excuse for being an equally poor student.
Chris
I have caught students cheating by using instant messenger apps (such as AIM) on their lap tops and by texting on their phones. I just tell students to turn off their phones and laptops. If the test requires use of computers, we use the lab where I have software that allows me to monitor what they’re doing. Oh yeah, I tell any student whose phone or lap top are on that they’ll get an automatic, no-appeal F on the test.
robho3
Damn he figured us out… We need to get the gat mafia on him.
maxdadmark
This idiot is one of millions of self-loathing south Asian gay men who hook up with men, insisting they are not gay, and intend to marry a woman (making her life miserable as well). Secondly, to you two ignorant posters who made a reference to ISIS, this guy is INDIAN. Hatred, be it of self or others, is repugnant.
delia
Yahoo CEO, Marissa Meyer has gone som far as to Support the practice “Work at home” that I have been doing since last year. In this year till now I have earned 66k dollars with my pc, despite the fact that I am a college student. Even newbies can make 39 an hour easily and the average goes up with time. Why not try this.

@dubstepskater: I think you meed a little remedial geography. He’s in Mumbai. What makes you think there are any active cells of Da’esh there? You realize that India is overwhelmingly Hindu don’t you? Less than 15% of Indians are Muslim, and of them a significant percentage are heavily influenced by Sufism, Islamic mysticism which is pretty much the opposite of Wahabism! Not going to be much radical action there!
maxdadmark
Some people who are outraged about this Indian guy are just as ignorant and bigoted as he is. “Brown skin? Must be al-Quada.”
dubstepskater
@dwes09 and @maxdadmark ,
I’d like to explain myself and why I made the reference about ISIS. I pretty much figured that he was Indian (roughly by his name and geographical location). The reason I worded my comment that way was to show how some people can make ignorant accusations against a group of individuals who they personally don’t like. Like for example, if he’d stated that African Americans or Asians (or any other race) use Grindr to cheat on tests (that would be his own personal racial prejudices). I thought everyone would understand that I was just making that statement to show how stupid this guy sounded by his Grindr conspiracy. Pretty much what I think is the guy hates gays, and wants to imply that the gays who apply themselves and do well in Life are pretty much cheaters. Apparently he thinks that Gays aren’t capable of having any kind of intelligence. OR he is a bitter queen who doesn’t get the attention he wants on Grindr and is making a personal attack against them (hoping that Grindr will be canceled maybe?). He didn’t mention anything about Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc…. Guess he isn’t aware that Gays use those apps too… It all sounds like he has a personal vendetta against Grindr and/or Gays…. But once again, I wasn’t implying he was a member of ISIS or anything, just simply comparing how someone can make “accusations” that sound ridiculous…. but maybe I should’ve made that a little more clearer to avoid any confusion.
maxdadmark
Very convoluted way to illuminate this guy’s bigotry, but okay, if you say so.
Marky
Take all the references to gay/LGB and replace with Jews/Jewish and it sounds like the beginnings of a nazi manifesto.
