Amazing!
CBS reality show The Amazing Race starts its twelfth season with a pair of lesbian ministers.
Kate Lewis and Pat Hendrickson of Thousand Oaks, California will compete in the around the world race, a race which gave Reichen his start. So, will we be seeing a lot more of these lovely ladies? We sure hope so!
It should come as no surprise to hear that Lewis and Hendrickson are both associated with the Episcopal Church: the Anglican denomination that ordained openly gay Bishop Gene Robinson. That movement, however, has been splitting at the sacred seams over gay inclusion. Perhaps these girls can change some people’s minds.
Rt. Rev. Dr. RES
Splitting at the sacred seams….can I use that- I love it. Yes, the Nigerian hypocritical brother in Christ of mine loves polygamy but not same sex love. He is an Evangelical Anglican, and wants conversions from Islam, and we know what the Nigerian government does to homosexuals.
The homophobic bigots in both denominations of the Communion in this hemisphere have uncanonically requested release from local authority. This is absolutely out of the norm. The Cantuaris, or Primate in honour and not in power, is a failed liberal who is nothing but a compromising and poll-driven pragmatist. It is no surprise that he was chosen by Tony Bliar.
The question of women in Holy Orders also split the international body in the seventies. Yet, no major split occurred as in the +Robinson consecration. Hypocrisy or timing….a little of both. Some denominations, as in the UK accept women in the grade of deacon and priest, but not bishop. In the US and Canada, women can and do have episcopal authority. Of course, the price was Roman, Anglican and Orthodox mutuality of validity, but that is worth the price in my book.
Good luck to botyh Lewis+ and Hendrickson+. This purple shirt will both watch and pray for their success. Changing peoples’ minds is what I mean. If they win the programme, so much the better.
