I met Marc Jacobs when he was a mess but a cool mess. He was doing lines of something @ Squeezebox when the bathroom door was opened prematurely and his two tall handsome escorts screamed at the girl in front of me to shut the fucking door. He was more of an East Village queer than a Chelsea one and he always made great tasteful references in his looks (both his and his work and his taste in music and celebrity). So maybe he was miserable back then but I don’t understand this new incarnation of himself. The tan, the haircut, the semi-nude pictorials and the pornstars. He is no Calvin Klein and the whole thing is inconsistent. Maybe he will get a taste of the darker side of this new persona and will settle on something more natural. His original self minus the drugs.
