Bob Costas on gays in sports

Bob Costas discusses the failure of the NBC team to cover Olympian Matthew Mitcham's sexuality and on what it means to be gay in professional sports. Costas seems completely relaxed and informed on the topic and promised to focus on it more often on his program. He said, "from my perspective, I think that these issues are more than valid. And if a person is already out and willing to talk about it, then certainly that’s significant in its own way."

Costas is okay. I'll never forget when he tried to get Michelle Philips to state that LSD was a bad thing, and she wouldn't. And he said, "What about the people who jump out windows?" And her response was something like, "Well, I guess they won't ever do it again."

Yeah, but if he is willing to help out gay visibility, who gives a shit about some interview he did with that burned out hippie has-been?
