James Franco shows up in at least one of this week’s home entertainment releases. But which one could it be?

Funded via Kickstarter, the Veronica Mars movie continues the adventures of the beloved former teen investigator, while Sean Paul Lockhart, aka Brent Corrigan, flexes his chops in psychological thriller Truth (above). Finally, Love Or Whatever is a gay rom-com for the cruising app age!

Veronica Mars

($29.98 Blu-ray, $29.98 DVD; Warner)

Kristen Bell returns as the erstwhile teen investigator who once headed a TV series. In this movie outing, funded by a super successful Kickstarter campaign, Veronica is distracted from her pursuit of a New York law career when her ex-boyfriend is accused of murder back home in Neptune, California. Yes, they pulled her back in! Extras include a making-of that chronicles the wildfire crowdfunding effort, an “on set fun” featurette, deleted scenes, and more.

Truth

($24.95; Canteen Outlaws)

From the get-go, it’s clear that the romance at the center of writer/director Rob Moretti is heading to a bad, dark place. Unfolding in flashbacks, Caleb (Sean Paul Lockhart) and Jeremy (Moretti) begin their bad romance with a hot hookup. Things really go south when Caleb’s demons and abuse-scarred past come to the fore. Extras include deleted and extended scenes, behind the scenes featurette, and commentary.

Love Or Whatever

($24.99 DVD; TLA)

A therapist, Corey, wants to marry his hunkalicious boyfriend, Jon, but the latter instead takes a dip on the bi-side with one of Corey’s female patients. Nix that plan! Onward and upward, Corey is introduced to the world of hookup apps, and soon finds a fabulous match, Pete. Hey, this is a rom-com, so you know Jon is gonna come crawling back and then what will Corey do? A date movie delight, queens!
