Gay Blood Flows In Costa Rica

color-oscar-arias3.gif
A big “bloody good” for Costa Rica. The Central American country one ups America in terms of medical practicality.

PageOneQ passes on word that gay friendly President Oscar Arias (pictured) used his presidential powers and signed a degree discarding a ban on gay blood donors.

The man who petitioned the president, Alberto Cabezas, told the press he hopes Costa Rica can teach other nations, such as America, a lesson.

Some misguided scientists still believe “gay blood” carries AIDS and other diseases. Silly, stupid fuckers.

Gay friendly? Arias?

Well, this is his first gay friendly measure, EVER.

When he was President from 1986 to 1990, the worst persecution of gays and lesbians in Costa Rica took place… by a Nobel Peace Price laureate! Gay bars and discos were raided constantly, and the fight ended up all the way to the Supreme Court.

Plus, his party is the only one of the major parties that officially oppose a law that would grant civil unions to gays and lesbians. The bill is supported by members of ALL other political parties except the religious right’s Congressman Guyón Massey, and Arias’s PLN.
