Just a week after this, comes this: Canadian modeling agent Brandon Wright’s brutal attack at the hands of someone he met online.
After meeting a man in person who called himself Alex, purportedly looking for representation, Wright got into the man’s truck to, uh, look at something Alex wanted to show him. Then Alex delivered the line, “Because you’re gay you need to be punished. I’m going to fucking kill you and you’re a faggot,” before beating him with a heavy object while the car was moving and repeating “I’m going to fucking kill you faggot.” Wright jumped out of the moving truck, and bystanders — including, uh, “this thug guy” — helped. Wright headed to the hospital, was treated, and released.
Terrible stuff. But here’s what we learn: If you need to meet anonymous strangers from the web, do it in a public place (which Wright did). Do not get into their cars (which Wright did). And absolutely tell at least one friend where you’re going, with whom, and when you’re returning. Maybe even promise to call your friend at a certain time, and if that call doesn’t come, they know something is wrong.
Oh, and save your chat transcripts and photos. They’ll help police find your assailant.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.

What a waste… Folsom is just around the corner, the guy could have had people begging him to beat them up.

How about not meeting these anonymous people in first place?
Yes the same thing can happen by picking someone up in a gay bar, but at least you can size the person up and have witnesses.

Thank you Queerty for giving out advice to keep gay people safe. Safety should be gay people’s number one personal issue.

What is really sad about these people who nearly meet their doom through these online cruising sites is they are (in most cases) the ones who condemn those of us who still go to the bathhouses for anonymous sex.
You have much, much more safety at a bath house than meeting a total stranger in public.
TomEM
@anonymous: Good point.
Fitz
@anonymous: ABSOLUTELY. And I expect to see all of you at Steam works this afternoon. I get off at 4.
Grey
@anonymous: I think that’s a bit of a stretch. I think it’s more likely the “Ozzie & Harriet” monogamous gays who condemn both bathhouses and Internet hookups.
Fitz
@Grey: I don’t think so. it’s the unfuckables who get angry that we fuck.
scott ny'er
ugh. terrible. poor dude.
StraightGrrrl
Trashy inhumane waste of life. I hope that piece of excrement gets the crap beat out of him in jail when he is found and sentenced.
JA
@Fitz: you really are a shitheel, huh. how’s that working out for you?

Wait for the truth before you pass judgement,,the “victim” could be a con man making promises to desperate men/boys
