Radio host Glenn Beck has jumped aboard the Andrew Sullivan “gay mafia” bandwagon. But not just that. Staying true to his sensational, hyperbolic fashion, he’s taken it a step further by saying gay people aren’t part of a “mafia,” they’re part of a “terrorist organization.”
The Christmas Sweater picture book author was talking about Brendan Eich’s resignation. Eich stepped down from his role as CEO of Mozilla after public outcry over his donation to California’s Prop 8 initiative in 2008.
“It’s being celebrated that someone who donated $1,000 six years ago has lost their job now,” Beck rants in a new video obtained by Right Wing Watch.
He goes on to say that gay activists “are becoming nothing but a terrorist organization” that just want to “keep everyone in fear!”
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
His comments echo the same sentiment Sullivan expressed last week, when he said: “If this is the gay rights movement today – hounding our opponents with a fanaticism more like the religious right than anyone else – then count me out. If we are about intimidating the free speech of others, we are no better than the anti-gay bullies who came before us.”
Earlier this year, disgraced TV star Alec Baldwin blamed the “Gay Department of Justice” for his downfall after having a homophobic meltdown in the streets of New York.
“Something is really wrong here,” Beck cautions.
“By the way, I hope that gay is currently the accepted term,” Beck also says. “I don’t know if it’s homosexual or if it’s queer … I don’t know anymore! Because you keep changing the rules!”
Check out the video of Beck below. What do you think? Is there a gay mafia/terrorist organization/Department of Justice out to crush all homophobes?
litper
Sullivan is a traitor and must be deported to Uganda!
ingyaom
The good news is that no one olistens to this guy anymore. His TV show was cancelled years ago, so where was this video, anyway… on the radio?
Kieran
Glen Beck sounds positively sweet compared to that vicious peddler of hate Michael Savage on WABC radio who would probably send gay people to concentration camps if he could get away with it.
tjr101
Remember when Glen Beck had his own gig on Fox and threw every conspiracy theory there is at Obama and vowed to prevent his re-election? Now, Obama is comfortably in his second term and Beck is as relevant as a used dish rag.
anti-liberal
He is not far from the truth! Given the history of this media site and it’s manipulative and fabricated propaganda, the latest case being the Mozilla CEO, what conservatives need is to unite strongly and fight fiercely against the ugly immoral and unnatural gay mafia.
jckfmsincty
Glenda, calm down, girl.
tjr101
@anti-liberal: Yea, whatever Louise.
jonjct
@tjr101: obama is what? … “comfortably” in his second term? hahahahah. are you joking? he is clearly an utter failure, destined to join beck in the dustheap of history. keep it real man.
DickieJohnson
Honestly, I’ve heard plenty of ridiculous babble from Glen Beck, but the “terrorists” thing is real drivel. I keep hoping that someday his head will detonate in the heat of a red-faced rant!
@anti-liberal: And, why don’t you go hang out on a site where your “opinion” might be welcomed, such as that of Glen Beck, Michelle Bachmann, or Pat Buchanan, to suggest a few. Someone might actually care what you think.
tjr101
@jonjct: I am keeping it real, he’s still there isn’t he and that bugs the hell out of people like you which brings a smile to my face. I would vote for him again by the way :).
Harley
So why is the gay community being blamed for this when NO LGBT organization said ANYTHING about Eich’s appointment to head Mozzila. The uproar came from programmers, developers, and web sites who didn’t want to work for a bigot. That’s called FREE MARKET for anyone not in the know.
anti-liberal
@Harley:
Free market would have tested how he performed as a CEO at the end of the financial year. He was barely at start of his job when he was personally attacked by small but very well organized coterie.
anti-liberal
@tjr101:
I am not surprised at all. I would have been if you had realized what mistake you have done. Thankfully the constitution limits morons like you to vote for the same person indefinite times and without regards of what he had done. I really hope the next time America will make the right choice, and not get fooled again. Otherwise the repercussions would be disastrous for America and the free world.
Paul F
@anti-liberal: Would that mistake be believing the lie in 2010 that republicans were all about jobs, jobs, jobs or that electing them would “send a message” to the democrats? The only disastrous repercussions for America would be voting for ANY tea bagging republican for ANY position except inmate in a federal prison for sedition.
Kangol
No “gay mafia” ousted Eich; his right-wing record did. His employees did not want him running the company. His fellow board members resigned rather than have him destroy Mozilla’s reputation.
This man not only donated to promote Prop H8, but also gave money in the 1990s to Pat Buchanan, a notorious r@cist and hom0phobe, and other far right politicians. Any gay person who defends such support is basically asking to be discriminated against.
People like @anti-liberal and @jonjct are doing that, like like Andrew Sullivan (who is also one of the most hypocritical gay people out there. Remember, he sanctimoniously and viciously attacked President Bill Clinton as “reckless” then was exposed for his own “reckless” behavior.)
tdx3fan
@anti-liberal: Thanks for sharing your opinion in support of a man that has no backbone and has demonstrated it time and time again. I almost missed the lunatic right that would post completely wasteful comments here…. its nice to know some of them are still around.
tdx3fan
@jonjct: He has done more with his life than you have. He has done more for this country than you will. Does that make you jealous enough to feel the need to comment against him or do you just not like him cause he’s black?
tdx3fan
@anti-liberal: His life views affect how he handles his job. When you are CEO you are the head and face of the company. People look at the company and see you. When people looked at Mozilla they saw this straight out bigot.
I realize you would probably not understand it because the only people that might look at you as a representative of your company are those in the drive thru line at 2AM.
anti-liberal
@Paul F:
Another deluded pawn. The 2010 elections were to limit the most radical destructive agenda of the democrats and they had fulfilled it’s potential.
As for the repercussions we already see many of them weakening America; strongly decreased competitiveness, labor force participation at record low in decades, restricted social mobility and many others. As for the foreign policy I won’t even start because I will need a mile-long post just to outline the main points. All this leads to weakened America and it is even worse for the rest of the free world. I posted many times and I will post it again in honor of the iron lady – “There is no right and left, there is just right and wrong”.
anti-liberal
@Kangol:
He was personally attacked for his political view shared by the 52% of the electorate of California at the time. His fault was that he was not prepared how to act accordingly and thus resulting in his downfall.
anti-liberal
@tdx3fan:
You are welcome. I am sorry (no, actually I am not) to disappoint you that not all we have equal mind set and we differ in our thinking. But guess that is what makes us individual after all. As for who am I and what I represent, doesn’t add up to the argument in this case.
Desert Boy
So Andrew Sullivan is on the same page as Glenn Beck. Noted.
Ogre Magi
and i think he is donkey doo-doo
Mezaien
@Ogre Magi: And I think he think he is white Ho shit.
