Hit the Bitch? Why Not Bag the Fag? The Stupidly Violent Anti-Violence “Game”

hitthebitch

How is one Danish anti-violence advocacy group working to combat attacks on women? By letting angry men — or just curious web surfers — “Hit The Bitch,” getting their virtual frustration out in an online “game.” This is a terrible idea.

It’s hard to believe an anti-violence group is behind the site, but The NGO For Children Exposed To Violence At Home created the thing. Horrifically, the site even notes that “If you’re quick [in hitting the girl], you and your class win 10,000 kr for a study tour.” Ugh.

Undoubtedly, the game — and the attention its critics are handing it — will raise awareness about domestic violence. But it’s a terrible strategy to create a website that actively encourages the beating of women.

Imagine if HRC, as part of a campaign to combat anti-gay school bullying, created a “Bag the Fag” game? There would be uproar.

We’ve seen our share of homophobia in video games, and the worst yet was the Georgia-based game that translated as Watch out behind you, hunter!, which had players hunting “fags.” Terrible.

And so is this one.

Just a quick note regarding this:
“Horrifically, the site even notes that “If you’re quick [in hitting the girl], you and your class win 10,000 kr for a study tour.” Ugh.”

That link actually has nothing to do with the game itself, but is a promotion for an annual creative competition amongst school classes.

“Bag the Fag” LOL.

I don’t see anything wrong with the “HitTheBitch” game.
