Joakim Noah has agreed to pay the $50,000 NBA fine for calling a Miami Heat fan a faggot. He said, “I didn’t really know what my fine would be. I was just ready to face the consequences and move on and get ready for this game. I don’t want to be a distraction to this team. I made a mistake. I’ll learn from it and move on.’’
Good on ya, Noah—apologize, pay, move on. By the way, do you wanna make an ad for New York marriage equality? All the cool non-New York NBA players are doin’ it!
Meanwhile, we can’t give the same props to Kobe Bryant. After calling a referee a “fucking faggot”, the NBA slapped him with a $100,000 fine (because one NBA referee is worth two Miami Heat fans). He said he’d appeal the fine and we haven’t heard of it since.
So while we’re not sure if he’s still contesting it, we do know this—the $100,000 fine represents 3.2% of Bryant’s $3.1 million salary this season. Time to put your money where your mouth is, Kobes.
How about we take this to the next level?
