Just In Time For GOProud’s Overthrow Of CPAC, Conference Head David Keene Exits

David Keene, who’s headed the American Conservative Union (which runs CPAC) since 1984, stepped down yesterday, the day before the conservative mega-conference begins. But don’t start drumming up any conspiracy theories, like Sarah Palin (who hates him) orchestrated his ouster: Keene already announced he was leaving the group to head up the National Rifle Association. And while his exit may now be official, he’s still overseeing what will be his last CPAC. He is replaced by lawyer Al Cardenas.
