The Knights of Columbus, the Connecticut-based Catholic group, in 2009 donated some $1.4 million to the National Organization for Marriage, more than it used to fund to food and educational programs. But while that information was already known, what’s worth noting is that while NOM has gone to court to hide its donor list, KoC freely disclosed its pro-discrimination donation. How come? Says spokesman Patrick Korten: “The fact of the matter is that those who favor same sex marriage are working hard to intimidate individuals and groups that support our cause, but [the Knights] are big enough that intimidation doesn’t work on us.”

They might be big enough, but they’re too arthritic and incontinent to put up a fight!

In the Northeast the KOC and the local Catholic dioceses go hand in hand. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some deals going on – “make a large contribution to Sister Mary Gallagher and we’ll give you free meeting space or free use of our grounds for a carnival/fair.” Wonder if there is a way to prove the RCC indirectly funded NOM…perhaps that might make problems in some states up in the Northeast for the RCC….

Only because you have your pals from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith to back up your ass.

Scary how the Knights of Columbus are mirroring the Vatican now.

Justice Samuel Alito is a Knight of Columbus. That’s their ultimate power, right there.

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!

A bit of trivia – The Inquisition did an official name change to avoid bad PR back in the 1870’s. The name was changed to “The holy
The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF), previously known as the Supreme Sacred Congregation of the Roman and Universal Inquisition, now known as the Holy Office of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
Thought the name has changed, the goal is the same – to root out heresy and heretics. If the national governments would still let them, they’d still be burning blasphemers and witches.
To get an idea of the deep disdain that the Catholic big-wigs regard democracy, check out the 1864 Quanta Cura. A websearch ought to turn up lots of interesting stuff.
And check out the “Americanism Heresy” of the late 1890’s, which undoubtedly led to American voter’s suspicion of electing a Catholic for President.
Lord knows I like Catholics just fine – I’ve enjoyed their nocturnal company on many occasions. But the pure form of that religion is about a pernicious a philosophy and as caustic to intellectual and physical freedom as anything I’ve seen short of a meth addiction.

They’re dying off faster than anybody else.
