So last night’s MTV VMAs were … The Awful, huh? 30 Seconds to Mars, really? Fine. But at least Lady Gaga used her opportunity to walk the red carpet in front of the million or so people who still watch the pre-show to draw attention to Don’t Ask Don’t Tell by taking as arm candy former U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. David Hall, former Air Force Major Mike Almy, and former U.S. Army Sgt. First Class Stacy Vasquez (all discharged under DADT), along with former West Point cadet Katie Miller (who resigned). Oh, but that dress!

Dear Gaga haters,
Name me one other celebrity who brought victims of government-sanctioned homophobia to the biggest night of his/her life and then stood up for their rights in front of millions & millions of people.
Go ahead.
Name one.
I <3 Mother Monster!

Not a fan of her in the slightest (and that raw meat Vogue cover absolutely secured that opinion), but that was a neat thing to do. Good on Gaga.
