Lesbians are so much easier to understand when you slap ‘em on some posterboard and break them down into four easy quadrants. But this is the Internet, so instead Tabloid Prodigy skipped the posterboard, went with Photoshop, and included everything but the U-Haul in this easy-to-follow, Butch v. Fem and Out v. Closeted matrix.
Though i’d quibble with the location of a few of these stars, I’m struck by the lack of out femmes…..
(And really, if Jodi Foster counts in either of those categories, you’re scraping.)
Wanda Sykes has been tapped to roast Barack Obama at this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner on May 9. The lesbian comic will likely skewer the President’s anti-gay-marriage stance, but she has some skeletons of her own, the Los Angeles Times reports. After hearing about the engagement, “I made sure my taxes were paid,” she said. LOL!

While it’s relatively plain to me that “Fem” and “Butch” are on opposite ends of a spectrum, I have trouble digesting “Trysexual” as the opposite of “Out & Proud.”
Then again, any graph wherein Lindsay Lohan is considered a perfectly balanced individual should probably not be taken seriously.

KD may be a self-describe butch (actually she said “I guess” in one recent interview), but I don’t know why they put her almost off the chart like that.
The last time she played here she performed in a long flowing dress and bare feet.
She also mentioned she sang in the same theatre (Tommy Douglas Centre in Saskatoon) as part of a high school competition – lost out to some girl who sang “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” from JC Superstar.
(though perhaps that last bit was embellishment).

lindsey is definitely fem though, and queen ain’t that butch, definitely not more than missy.

You’re probably right. I hadn’t actually gotten out my micrometer to compare the two (though I DID wonder why margaret was way down there).
Plus Lily Tomlin is out now, but there was a long long time there when she wasn’t if I recall.
And I actually have a sticker I picked up somewhere for the Chastity Bono Snowboarding Team (their motto: “Strap One On and Ride”)
You know, la Lohan may be a lot of things, but one thing she certainly isn’t is less femenine than (pick any of the lesbians in the out and proud and fem quadrant except Portia de Rossi). Same argument could apply to the out and proud scale. It took Foster… what, 10-15 years, to publicly acknowledge her wife in a somewhat obscure event. And she did it long after her career had reached its peak. It took Lohan no more than a year to acknowledge her bisexuality, and we have to remember that way back when she actually had a career to worry about by “coming out”.
On a different note, I had no idea Manheim was a lesbian!!!
