Log Cabin Republicans Saved by Bailout

log-3After hearing that the Log Cabin Republicans, everyone’s favorite conservative gay political organization, was in the poor house to the tune of $100,000, donors have come to the ailing org’s aide, committing “upwards of $125,000” according to outgoing president, Patrick Sammon.

This isn’t to say that Adam Smith’s invisible hand isn’t still bitch slapping the gay Republicans. The Washington Blade reports that things are still grim in Repubville:

“At a national meeting in Atlanta last weekend, Sammon said the board also approved a “significantly” reduced budget in response to the organization’s financial woes. Sammon said he could not immediately provide any numbers for how much the budget was cut for this year.

In an interview earlier this month, Sammon said he expected the board to approve a budget that would be about 35 to 40 percent less than what Log Cabin had in 2008.

The organization is operating with a limited full-time staff. Scott Tucker, once communications director for Log Cabin, told the Blade he recently quit his position at the organization.

Tucker’s decision means that the only full-time staffer to remain at Log Cabin is Sammon, who announced last year his decision to step down as president at the end of this month.”
