  Pretty Boys

Men Can Be Objectified, Too

exploit1

Who says women are the only ones being trumpeted about for their sex appeal? David Beckham, Michael Phelps, Daniel Radcliffe, and plenty of unknown pretty boys are constantly having their good looks exploited. Complaints? None here.

Plenty more at Trend Hunter.

Frankly, I haven’t even noticed women being exploited for their looks for like 15 years. It’s been all about the men for as long as I can remember.

Good! Perhaps it’ll spur some fatties into action.

I am all for objectifying Daniel Radcliffe. What, you couldn’t post a new picture? I want some more, please.

Gosh I hope for the day all men will be comfortable being objectified. Take it as flattery instead of attack on insecurity (talking about straight male homophobia)

Sure men can be objectified, but unlike women, they are also valued for more than their sexual attractiveness. I like looking at hot men as much as the next gay, but I’m not fooled into thinking that just because hot men put it out there that the playing field is equal.

@Nick: On balance I’m a fan of the sexual objectification that has occurred with both sexes. But, that comment is pretty callous when you consider that the pervasiveness of ideal figures in the media has done more than “spur some fatties to action.” It’s directly caused skyrocketing rates of BDD and the accompanying problems (including suicides), for example.

I’m a tremendous fan of fitness, and I try to encourage everyone I know to adopt healthy diet and exercise habits. But to call people “fatties”? That’s just cold, and immature, too. :-(
