More Trouble For 'HX'?
Stiffs Printers, Staffers Suffer
HX magazine may have some big financial trouble on their hands. A reader-supplied rumor suggests the weekly New York fag rag's having some trouble paying their bills:
HX has left a major creditor high and dry. Publisher Matthew Bank and his partner David Unger of Avalon Equity Group (which recently sold NY Press) stiffed it's printer on Varick Street to the tune of more than $480,000.HX, which also publishes NY Blade, also abandoned another debt for nearly one million dollars to a printer in Long Island. The printer filed bankruptcy and HX was forced to settle their payment to them, but on for pennies on the dollar.
Staffers at HX Media (HX, NY Blade and Gay Life Expo) were also told they will have to wait for their paychecks.
Perhaps all the pub's dough's been sunk into that $1.25 million go-go lawsuit.

The producer of Perez Hilton's show says that he has "become a major tastemaker in the music biz".
I was surprised by this information. I did not know that but it makes me feel more comfortable about my gaining an extra 10 pounds.

LOL i actually quite like perez, everyone seems to hate him but i find him rather intriguing.
He has a story to tell and that's all you need in media.
Plus i envy his sucess.
No shock, HX has been a fly by night business for years. They are constantly hiring sales staff who are given high sales goals in order to get a bonus that they desperately need because the pay sucks. Get anywhere near your goal…and you're fired. I've heard this same story from 3 different guys several years apart.
Besides, HX only exists to give Matthew Banks access to the hip scenes he would otherwise be shunned at. In other words, Matthew Banks is the forefather of Perez (and they probably wear the same size as well).
Oh Andrew. Again with the HX bashing? Interesting that you've been quiet on the HX front for so long ever since your mole Joe Ross got fired for being a complete and total fuck up. Don't have anyone else in there to provide you with details?
As soon as I saw this I called my friend who works there (and has been there for over a year when YOU AND I both worked there) and he knows nothing about not getting his check. In fact, he confirmed that the paychecks had been delivered because he was in the elevator with the guy who picked them up from teh doorman's desk. You do remember that's how they do it, right? So, let's just call that one DOA.
Anyway, as you and I both worked there, I guess we should just take off the gloves and be blunt. No "reader" called or emailed you. It was most likely 1-800-Postcards, the printers who emailed you since everyone knows that you're so fucking pathetic to post anything and everything about HX. No one cares about them. You're just taking it out on them because you would continually bitch to me about how you never wanted to be in sales and wanted to write for HX and they only let you do it a couple of times but never again. I sat next to you long enough to do your rant back at you.
And about that lawsuit…interesting that you continue to leave out the fact that lawsuits were also leveraged against Next and Splash. Any reason why you don't seem to mention that as well?
Oh, and for Qjersey, if you're going to bitch about Matthew, at least get his last name right. It's BANK not BANKS. Your info though, pretty solid about the high sales goals although, according to my friend there, the people let go as of late weren't selling as well as they should.
