Morning Aural: St. Vincent

Annie Clark – aka St. Vincent – cut her musical teeth with The Polyphonic Spree and as part of Sufjan Stevens’ traveling band. Now Clark has broken out on her own with a full-length debut: Marry Me. The singer describes her sound thus:

Songs rock out vigorously, break down into squiggling post-noise-rock deconstructions, roll out mellow and slow-flowing as a river. Backing harmonies and kiddie choirs loom in the distance, rise, and lilt above the stately grandiosity.

Get a taste of St. Vincent’s “grandiosity” with this track, “Jesus Saves, I Spend”.
