PHOTO: “The A List: New York” Star Austin Armacost Bares All For PETA

 

While designers are sending the latest collections down the runway at New York Fashion Week, PETA decided to have A List-er Austin Armacost, a model and former beau of designer Marc Jacobs, strut the catwalk in the altogether to protest the use of fur in the the fashion industry, in a poster campaign called “Turn Your Back on Fur.”

Says Armacost: “As a gay model, I have always been dismayed that some otherwise progressive people in the gay fashion pack have such disregard for the animals who are skinned alive for coats, collars, or cuffs—including my ex Marc Jacobs.”  (Eagle-eye readers will also recognize some other faces in the campaign, including gossip hound Michael Musto, Marie Claire‘s Sergio Kletnoy and out rapper Cazwell.)

The posters with Armacost have been plastered throughout Midtown, with QC codes that take viewers to a clip featuring Project Runway’s Tim Gunn video exposé of the fur industry. The ad will also be featured in London, Milan, and Paris fashion weeks and in a full spread in Great Britain’s Gay Times.
