PHOTOS: What Would You Wear (If Anything) To A Kinky Street Fair?

Another Up Your Alley has come and gone, and with it another hefty street-cleaning bill for the tax payers of San Francisco. (You think it’s hard to get stains out of sheets, try five city blocks.) And while we could drone on about all the twisted hedonism shuffling around SoMa on Sunday, we know you really just want to see the pictures. Well, here they are!

Which pic was NSFW? Gawd Queerty is made up of a bunch of uptight gays. I bet they all show up to work in leather on Halloween and giggle like a bunch of 6th grade girls cuz they are all soooooo kinky!

Never got the the leather fetish thing. It always seemed like an odd interpretation of authoritarian masculinity. I guess this is close to the cosplay one sees at sci-fi or comic book conventions.

Really. What a stupid post. Any one of these pics could have run in a mainstream daily – nothing NSFW about these. Hard to believe you could get a more bland set of pics from Dore Alley! And all the “tut tutting” about “twisted hedonism” – WTF is that about? Queerty used to be edgy and sassy. Now it comes across like someone’s persnickety, uptight auntie…..

Oh, and one more thing…. what is with the complaining about the street cleaning bill for the taxpayers of SF…. Dumb. Not funny.

      OK, who took THESE pics??
I went, and I just saw more hairless guys in these pics than at the fair. Where are the hairy guys? Where are the crowds?? Where are the nekkid guys in hot costumes? Where are the nekkid guys at all??

Even the locals complain that there is little of the old Dore Alley debauchery left, but I saw a puppy loose his tail and have to bend over and stuff it back in about 3 feet from me. And that was a pretty typical moment.

I LOVE a hairless chest, but anyone photo-reporting for you should have given you a balanced look at the place. I would hope you’d find a new cameraman by the time Folsom comes around.

We’ll have to compare Queerty’s photos with those taken by Pete LaBarbera (who seem to love these events more than most of us commenters here do!)

I would LOVE to be able to pull off some of these looks, but for humanity’s sake, I would probably have to show up with as much clothing as possible haha

Poor Dore Alley Fair has made a turn toward mainstream fetishism and acceptance, like it’s big sister “Folsom.” Not as much public debauchery, public sex and public nudity is tolerated as the neighborhood is more gentrified. As for the street cleaning – that’s a very real problem here in San Frandisco. Due to reductions in city services, street cleaning isn’t a top priority. Taxpayer groups have been up in arms – about street fairs picking up the tab for street cleaning. Limiting the consumption of fluids (both man-made and mass produced) to prescribed areas has turned off some fair goers…….

Virtually every person in virtually all of those photos looks ridiculous.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
