Resuming Liveblogging of the Prop 8 Trial: Canceled, Because Liveblogging Isn’t Allowed

And here were we all excited for the new liveblog from Firedoglake‘s Teddy Partridge of Judge Vaughn Walker’s courtroom, when this came in: “I HAVE TO SHUT MY LAPTOP OFF NOW PER CLERK’S ORDER. SO NO ACTUAL LIVEBLOGGING. WILL ADVISE.”

Just checked http://prop8trialtracker.com/ which previously showed same-day transcripts of the trial and that site has no comment about anything happening regarding the trial.

http://prop8trialtracker.com/ has an update on what happened. The “live blogger” was in the courtroom, not the overflow room (which wasn’t in use). I’d guess that they don’t allow laptops due to them being a distraction – beeps or the sound of the hard disks. You probably can’t give a free pass to a single person with a laptop – if you let one member of the public use one, everyone else can to.
