Not every decision is an economic decision—the lens we use to make decisions is the lens of our people.”
—Starbucks CEO Howard Shultz, responding to a shareholder’s complaint that sales dipped after the company announced its support for marriage equality, at a recent shareholders meeting. Shultz’s comments were met with thunderous applause by shareholders and Starbucks staffers at the meeting.

Unlike NOM and their other dinosaur ilk, history will look favorably upon this forward thinking company.

I’m going to Starbucks RIGHT NOW!
GayTampaCowboy
So, if you were like me looking for a reason to justify paying $6.00 for a cup of coffee……just read this CEO’s quote!

Stopping at Starbucks on my way home. Be interesting to see in 10 which company has grown and which has shrunk between Starbucks and Chik Fil Et. 😉

He may have done it to boost stock, boost sales, or to make himself look good. I fo r one, cant stand their coffee, I prefer Woods coffee or am/pm.
Although in the summer I like to sit at the starbucks and show off my legs in my sluts shorts and high heels.

@Cam:
It will be interesting to see how Chik-Fil-A fares in the coming years. From what I understand, they profits actually INCREASED after it was made clear that they do not support equality. They have a conservative customer base that seems want to support the company even more now it’s clear the society is slowly turning against them. It’ll be interesting to see what happens…

Finally, another of very few corporations I can actually support! I don’t really like their coffee (or the high prices), but they have recently come out with a milder coffee that’s perfect! Keep up the good work, Starbucks!

@Tommysole: If what you say about am/pm is true, I don’t doubt your last sentence…
DirtyOleMan
I knew there was a reason why I pay so much for their coffee
DarkZephyr
@Tommysole: Uh, you noticed that stock DIPPED when he made the announcement, right?
Caliban
He said this in response to a complaint by a man who has a history of standing up at shareholder’s meetings to complain about the company’s pro-gay policies. He’s done it at Target, Bank of America, and others. He may or may not be connected to NOM, but they’ve certainly talked about them in their press releases.
So in other words, the Starbucks CEO gave a great response to a well-known anti-gay shit bird.

I knew that $10 I put on the passport card on my iphone was gonna come in handy.

There are other factors that affect their stock price. Eventually it’ll even out. They are on the right side of history and I believe they’ll be rewarded for it.

I was thrilled to read this!!!! I do go to Starbucks and now I have an additional reason to increase the frequency. Not only did he support equality but he did so in no uncertain terms. I wish other CEOs had the gumption to be so aggressive in their support. TEAM STARBUCKS forever.
KARUADAM
