Struck Down!

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger yesterday vetoed a bill implementing Harvey Milk Day, which is named after the state’s first openly gay elected official. Schwarzenegger, a former actor, says he thinks the event shouldn’t be celebrated statewide. “[Milk's] contributions should continue to be recognized at the local level.” [AP]

So, he supports Harvey Milk day, and shows this by vetoing a bill that would recognize it. It shows how awful Republicans are when it comes to gay rights, that the Log Cabin Republicans’ strongest ally would do something like this.

Look, the guy supports gay marriage, which is a tough position for any Republican to take. So if he want’s to veto Harvey Milk Day, so be it. It’s not a big deal, there’s still a chance to get it passed later on anyways.
