Rumor has it that San Antonio-based news anchor Ross Palombo has been picked to take over CBS News on Logo after current host Jason Bellini decided to pursue other projects. Let's hope this guy can make that show interesting, because it's a regular snooze fest at the moment. [Towleroad]

Logo's Jason Bellini sat down with Hillary Clinton last week to talk - what else? - presidential election. The duo discuss ENDA, Don't Ask, Don't Tell and what Clinton whispered to Barack Obama after last week's CNN debate.

Aims Primarily At Logo

The war of words continues between homo-journo Doug Ireland and CBS on Logo's Jason Bellini.

The battle began earlier this week when we published Ireland's scathing letter to Bellini in which he likened Bellini's brand of news to "show biz fluff". The accusations were specifically with regard to Logo's year-end spectacular.

Bellini was not amused, but stayed relatively amiable in his response. He explained that the stories were chosen by National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association, not Logo. Bellini went on to Logo's journalistic nose.

Ireland still doesn't like what he smells. He does, however, claim to appreciate Bellini, but definitely has issue with Logo's "corporate" nature. We've reprinted his lengthy rebuttal after the jump…

Passes Along Open Letter On Iranian Scandal

CBS On Logo journo Jason Bellini isn't taking Doug Ireland's attacks lying down. Yesterday we published Ireland's irrate missive to Bellini in which the veteran newsman blasted Bellini and Logo for not including Iran in their year-of-the-end spectacular. He wrote: "…You call this show-biz fluff you’re doing 'news'?" Way harsh.

Last night, just minutes after posting Happy Endings, we received a note from Bellini to Ireland.

Read it in all it's glory, after the jump…

Doug Ireland Miffed With Bellini

Logo patted itself on the back when announced their Jason Bellini-hosted 30-minute weekly news show. Veteran political journalist Doug Ireland, however, wants to slap them across the corporate face for their failure to mention consistently anti-gay Iran during their end-of-the-year spectacular. The frequent Gay City News contributor wrote to Jason directly:

I just watched your half-hour end-of-the-year "news" review on LOGO. And I was truly appalled when, in your oh-so-brief inclusion of Ahmadinejad's infamous "no homosexuals in Iran" statement among the top ten stories of the year, there was not a word about the horrific, lethal campaign of persecution of LGBT people in Iran by its theocratic regime.

Coming just days after Iran's hanging of 21-year-old Makwan Moloudzadeh — for having had sex (at the age of 13) with other boys his own age — aroused worldwide revulsion, your glaring omission of any word about the skein of daily repression which same-sexers face in Iran — Internet entrapment, raids on private homes and parties, arrests, torture, imprisonment, lashings, forced sex-change operations, executions, and the rest — is stunning and incomprehensible.

Your broadcast found time to talk about Ellen's dog (twice) and about the feud between Mr. Trump and Ms. O'Donnell (twice) and other entertainment trivialities, but about the unspeakable persecutions visited on gay people in Iran you and your colleagues were utterly silent. By the way, I have yet to hear a word about the hanging of Makwan on your air. And still you call this show-biz fluff you're doing "news"?

No word on whether Bellini's responded to Ireland's irate missive.

Jason Bellini To Host Weekly Television Event!

bellininews.jpg
Gay cable network Logo's breaking new ground with Gayville's first ever half-hour news show. From the press ready press release:

…CBS News on Logo will air weekly on Mondays at 7:00PM ET/PT as well as stream at 365gay.com, a leading online LGBT news hub from Logo. The show will be hosted by Jason Bellini, who will be joined by reporters Itay Hod, Chagmion Antoine and others from across the country and will be executive produced by Court Passant…

The new show will allow the CBS News on Logo team to probe beyond the day’s headlines and provide an opportunity for the in-depth exploration of issues of importance to LGBT America, tapping into the rich history and resources of CBS News.

“LGBT Americans will be a key voting bloc in the 2008 election and we hope CBS News on Logo will be a dynamic new platform for keeping our community informed and involved,” said Lisa Sherman, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Logo. “We’re thrilled CBS News is giving a unique LGBT perspective to the very best in television journalism.”

Hooray! Now we'll never have to watch boring old straight news ever again! Except for Tuesday-Sunday…

Homo-politico Barney Frank and trans activist Mara Keisling sat down with Logo yesterday to discuss the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.

The National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association has announced the homo journo honorees for 2006.
And, of course, we've been snubbed. Again. So, who were the big winners?

That cutie-patootie, Jason Bellini of CBS News on Logo (does that make CBS gay or just curious?) took home the Journalist of The Year Award. Good for him. We don't know him personally (shocker, right?) but we're sure he's just a swell guy.

And, for all ten of you who care, we've posted the rest of the winners after the jump.

will wikle

Will Wikle is everywhere: television, radio, and the emergency room. The jack of all trades recently answered some questions from our intern Christopher Rudolph and dishes on Omarosa, Bette Midler, and his romance with LOGO’s Jason Bellini.

Hey, Will! What have you been up to?
Right now, I'm at the Genius Bar inside the Soho Apple Store watching two 7 year olds argue about the hard drive capacity on their iBooks. It's pretty amazing considering that at that age, I was out in the fields of Mississippi eating mud and making HeMan give head to Skeletor.

How did you like Fashion Week?
I was fortunate enough to attend very inspiring, rad shows. For the first time ever, I can say that I now completely view fashion design as a true expressive art. As I listened to my boyfriend interview Richie Rich backstage at Heatherette, I was reminded of the passion and actualization of inspiration that goes in to "making it happen.” Besides Heatherette, I loved both Yoko Deveraux and Project Runway. But mostly just going to PR with Bradford. Now that we all know who made the final three, I can say that I am very upset that everyone won't get to see Kara Janx's line…If I was a trannie, I would only wear her evening dresses.

How has your life changed after Big Brother?
That's such a tough question. I obviously didn't return to the same life that I left, which was both good and bad in so many ways. Great things have happened for me: I started a new job at a different hospital, I signed on with LOGO, I started with Twist, yada, yada. But life was hard for me too. You know, I naively expected to be affirmed by my 15 minutes on TV….like every self confidence issue I ever had would disappear simply because I had achieved some level of being recognizability. Well, that was the exact opposite case. I went through a pretty intense depression after that experience was over. It was a real challenge to figure out who I was again and be proud of that person. I had some great friends and family to help me out and I came out a better dude because of it. So, it's all good in the end.

More after the jump.

out 100

We had a blast at the Out 100 party Friday night, mingling with stars and friends alike. As Perez reports, Sharon Stone's speech was a bit, um, off.

We saw our pals Dan Renzi, Jason Bellini, and Kim Stolz and met many pretty fabulous people. Check out some Flickr photos: here and here. And also check out Patrick McMullan’s site. You just might catch our editor in a photo or two.

Thanks for the invite Out!
