Target has just announced a transgender inclusive bathroom policy, adding its name to a welcome and growing list of corporations that are standing up for the LGBT community.
The company’s statement is not only supportive of their LGBT consumers, but throws some thinly-veiled shade at the rash of anti-LGBT laws that have recently popped up in North Carolina and Mississippi.
According to Target:
“We welcome transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity. Everyone deserves to feel like they belong.”
CNN Money noted that the location of Target’s headquarters played a role in the announcement of their decision:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
In Minnesota, where Target is headquartered, a Republican state senator has proposed a bill that would restrict access to restrooms, locker rooms and dressing rooms based on the “biological sex” of individuals.
Many major corporations are fighting against the “bathroom laws,” saying they discriminate against both employees and customers.
Target was aware, and decided to take a stand:
We regularly assess issues and consider many factors such as impact to our business, guests and team members. Given the specific questions these legislative proposals raised about how we manage our fitting rooms and restrooms, we felt it was important to state our position.
Everyone deserves to feel like they belong. And you’ll always be accepted, respected and welcomed at Target.
Haters will (always) hate, but in the wake of legislated discrimination, it feels good to know that some major retailers are still on our side. We’ll feel a tiny bit better the next time we go $100 over budget there, and we think you will, too.

Well there’s another retailer for one million dumbs to boycott. Where will they buy their poly blends in future.

Why don’t we simply have a Washroom for all (no gender specific) across Canada and the U.S.??
They do this in Europe already and as far as I can tell, the apocalypse has not happened.

Told you I was right about Trump. He will be the most gay-friendly Republican nominee for president ever:
