Back when Trevor Donovan’s 90210 character Teddy was heterosexual, he slept with a lot of chicks. And now that he’s gay and scoping the bar scene? He’s going to sleep with a lot of dudes! His serial -manizing is basically how his character will develop the rest of this season, though he’ll apparently settle down with Freddie Smith’s Marco, because all hot high school guys with an insatiable libido want to partner up. Whatever, so long as Blue Mountain State‘s Alan Ritchson gets some major blonde butt, I’ll survive.

There’s no way that guy’s any less than 25/26, nevermind 18! He’s meant to be in highschool?? Wow. Suspending disbelief or what?

@j: The actor is 32. He’s practically old enough to have a child with a coming out story.

Here’s a little tidbit that I don’t see mentioned often enough. In the original 90210 cast, “Steve Sanders” (the curly blonde), played by Ian Ziering, was conceived as a stealth gay character. You may remember that he was a sort of jock “rebel without a cause” who seemed to be running from something, and oddly never seemed to be dating anyone. And none of the other characters seemed to notice anything weird was going on. He was going to come out sometime after the show had gotten safely established.
At about the same time, Melrose Place introduced the world to their own pet gay character “Matt Fielding”, played by Doug Savant. 90210 held off on “Steve’s” coming out, in order to see how viewers reacted.
While we know MP didn’t suffer for having a (french kissing!) gay character after all, for whatever reasons, 90120 decided shelve the idea, even though they thought of it first. Perhaps they realized they would now look like copycats, or Ziering was resistant to this potential career-killer, and had gained the leverage to stand firm.
In the end, they explained Steve’s bad attitude as alcoholism, and gave his sexual image a spectacular late bloom with the episode where he turns 18 AND sleeps with his mother’s cougary business partner.

I just watched Teddy’s whole gay storyline on YouTube. He’s so hot! I may just start watching this show. Especially if Marco’s gonna be on it.

Why doe Alan Ritch always play a closeted gay guy?
Ted B. (Charging Rhino)
Xander on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” was also originally-headed for being “the gay kid” the writers decided Willow’s character-development as a lesbian was decided-on instead.
Having Steve Sanders being gay on 90210 would have been logical based on how his early character was written and developed plot-wise the first season or two.
