Father Owen O’Sullivan, an Irish Catholic priest and member of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin, was banned by the Vatican from having any of his writing published again after insisting homosexuality was “simply a facet of the human condition” and writing “same-sex attraction and acts have been a consistent feature of human life.” Bizarrely, the article “On Including Gays” was published last March in Furrow, a magazine published by St. Patrick’s College Maynooth, proving the Holy See is at least better with following up on essays it disagrees with than child molestation allegations.

The Vatican let O’Sullivan off easy. Gallileo was “excommunicated” and placed under house arrest for stating that the Sun—not the earth—was the center of the universe. It’s accepted scientific fact today ofcourse, but at the time it was considered “heresy”.

Is this not reason enough for everyone to leave the catholic church in the dust?

One priest says “Hey, some people are gay, and we should still try and get them on team Jesus” and he gets punished. Another priest makes a career out of systematically covering up rampant child molestation and he gets made Pope.
I’ll take “things I don’t get” for 500, Alex.

I find nothing “brave” about the Vatican silencing a voice of reason among its ranks. If anything, it was cowardly and proves beyond any doubt just how homophobic the roman cult of hate, bigotry and hypocrisy is and always will be. Pure evil!

The Crustybastard, maybe they were. At first reading, I didn’t think they did, but you’re probably right.
