What Happens When Bill O’Reilly Mixes Pop Culture + Religion

Is Kris Allen’s Christianity going to drive votes his way in this week’s American Idol finale? Alas, a topic that’s ripe for informed discourse ends up on Bill O’Reilly’s television show, which means the whole discussion gets boiled down to AMERICANS ARE PERSECUTING CHRISTIANS or something.

Obama mixed and remixed religion and pop culture by stating that he is against marriage equality because “God is in the mix”. Religion + hiphop…. The magic formula.

      O’Reily and Obama =O’Douchebags.

If Adam Lambert wins American Idol gay marriage is in, doma and dadt are gone.

Kris Allen wins we become the christian Iran.

Bill O’Reilly really doesn’t want Adam Lambert to win because of his sexuality. Last year Billo went crazy when Sanjaya kept moving on week after week. He feared Sanjaya might influence young boys to be feminine etc.

      VOTE FOR ADAM TONIGHT!

I am beginning to think that O’Reilly has a crush and a thing for Adam Lambert..he keeps bringing him up again and again and again. I watched that segment and was like who is crazier the Entertainment reporter (who kept equating gay means you must be an atheist and straight means you are God fearing and a good Christian..you know the Danny Ass Kissing Gockeley and Michael also like Gokeley has no talent “love you man in the good Christian the way God fearing right way that a Guy loves another Guy” non Gay way…I mean the whole segment was simply stupid.

The ‘Enterainment’ Reporter kept pushing the idea that American Idol is some kind of Christian singing talent….as I said the whole segment was past moronic….so take it from where it comes.

The only thing I worry about is that Danny’s so called “fan base” will vote against Adam because he is Gay..instead of voting for Kris because they think he is more talented.

Both Kris and Adam have different types of singing styles..so what should count is whom is the best singer…not whom they sleep with..I can only hope and pray (there you go..even we Gays pray) that the best singer wins…and who is to say that Adam is not Christian..the moronic Entertainment reporter falsely stated that Kris expresses his Christianity by wearing a cross (I have not seen him wear a cross once) and if so,therefore he is a good Christian and Adam does not wear a cross so he must be an Atheist..by that logic..or that he doesn’t discuss his Christianity..what is he running for Pope and not once did Kris discuss his but according to the idiot report he must be a good Christian since he married at a young age.

honestly, the Entertainment report was a bigger moron then O’Reilly’s fascination with Adam.

I read this same story in USA Today, Huffington Post, and the New York Daily News before O’Reilly and FOX.

Let’s bear in mind that O’Reilly’s guest is the one and only Ramin Setoodeh, who wrote that Newsweek cover story a while back that was widely regarded as a blame-the-victim piece.

I’m a little flummoxed by Setoodeh’s frequent but not necessarily positive coverage of homosexuality. Does anyone know if he is gay?

Is it just me, or is there a bit too much hating on O’Reily.

He’s not an ally by any means, but he’s astounded that someone who is Christian would be against voting for someone who is gay and as Thom said, he wasn’t the only news outlet covering it.

I see him like my older uncle (who oddly enough is a huge O’Reily fan), doesn’t really understand/like gay issues coming up and confusing him, but doesn’t hate people because they’re gay

Get over your obsession with Bill O’Reilly. You obviously don’t watch his show Queerty editors, because most of your O’Reilly-hates-gays stories are based on untruths you have found on other biased internet “news” sites… I went to school to be a journalist. Bloggers are not journalists. Journalists have a responsibility that is supposed to be more important than ideology, especially since we get special Constitutional protections most Americans don’t. A real journalist doesn’t just cut and paste from someone else’s blog and call it breaking news. Fox News is the only true journalistic organization left, and since most of you are so constrained by your ideology that you won’t even give Fox News a chance, it’s a safe bet to presume many of you, not just including Queerty editors, are dangerously misinformed.

For example, unless you live with your heads in the sand, the thought must have crossed your mind that if Adam Lambert is perceived as gay, it may count against him winning American Idol. We all know how Americans can be. But Bill O’Reilly has been fair – as always – during this discussion. In fact, he went out of his way to say that no one has confirmed if Adam is gay. He didn’t like Sanjaya for the same reason no one else did… he sucked. And no one ever said if he was gay either.

Face it boys, there is a good chance our beloved Adam Lambert may lose. And it may have absolutely nothing to do with whether or not he’s gay. It might have everything to do with the fact that not only is Kris Allen brutally cute, but he’s also an amazing singer. I would much rather hear his version of the new single on the radio than Adam’s.

P.S. Before I lose my gay card completely, I wanted to say that I did vote for Adam, and only Adam, several times tonight. I want Adam to win, but I won’t be crushed if Kris takes the win.
