Will Grammy Winner Karen Clark Sheard Sing About The Perils of Same-Sex Marriage?

When the National Organization for Marriage wraps up its summer tour on Sunday in Washington D.C., they’ll welcome Karen Clark Sheardt, the Grammy-winning gospel singer. It also marks the deepening of a relationship between NOM and the Church of God in Christ, the primarily black church and maintains country’s largest Pentecostal following: In May, San Diego’s Bishop George McKinney issued a statement through NOM assailing Judge Vaughn Walker for using “specious and outrageous comparisons between same-sex unions and interracial marriage.” Now, COGIC member Sheard will be singing NOM’s praises.

I’m guessing Tonex was booked?

Why are these people drawn to Religious Bigotry? Just because you are weak-minded, doesn’t mean you need to follow bigots in lock-step.

But don’t even DARE suggest there is bigotry and homophobia in the black community.

Pointing out wrongs of black community = bigoted.

Acts of bigotry by black community = “well, it’s the gay peoples fault. they should have knocked on our churches doors. Same churches that preach they burn in hell”

Until the black community themselves realize preaching about civil rights and inequality and being colorless has no merit unless they themselves preach equality for all, this is a moot point.

There’s been so many country super stars who’ve come forward and said they believe in full equality and gay marriage, yet within the black community and music talents not many (if any) at all. Since Prop 8, things have been very eye opening for me.

Hey, I LOVE the Church of God in Christ! Very cruisy! LOL

True Story – When I visited there once I was cruised by 6 guys out of 12, and felt like a raw piece of meat! But then, to be fair, I’ve had that experience in almost all of the Pentecostal churches I’ve ever been to.

So they’re bigots because they’re afraid of themselves? So sad….

Why does Jason posting all kindsa nastyness about Black people, hiding under his other fakenames? We all know what that means ~ hes both attracted to *and *afraid of the Black man. And well he just doeasnt like women at all.

      My next single to drop:
[Soon to be released on itubes:]

      “Jason Flakey Like a Croissante”

      His name Jason
      He gotta gay face on
      He hate folks of color
      Like his own po mother,

      So he rave and rant
      And he never recant,
That he racist and sexist and anti immigration,
      And We all know,
      he dont take no medication

He got no job or good education,
      but Queerty will post him,
      Without no moderation
Cuz he creates lots of clicks which please the advertizers
But he scares away the normal people who are not on tranqualizers.

[~I had help with this posting~]

@shanelle: Yep. Jason = Dawson, Mason L./Dan L., ambwww@yahoo.com, Carlos, Miles. And those are just the more obvious ones. This buffoon isn’t good at playing Cloak & Dagger with his sock-puppetry. He’s as transparent as a glass of room temp. Sprite. If it’s racist and/or misogynist, then I automatically suspect Jason…even if “Jason” isn’t attached to the tripe. You fool no one, partner.

It’s not a question of pointing out bigotry in the Black community. It’s that fact that some of you are all too willing to negate the fact that this story and the Alveda King story has more to do with religion and religious hypocrisy than the color of anyone’s skin or their heritage. There are more predominantly white churches and organizations that stand against us and spread bigotry and preach intolerance and hate and the narrative is never “homophobia in the white community”. When it comes to a homophobe who happens to be black or a religious organization that is mostly black, homophobia all of a sudden turns into a problem unique to blacks. Quite frankly it makes us look simple. It ‘s almost like some of you guys subscribe to some sort of Gay version of Fox News or something.
Of course Queerty and some of it’s readers have no problem with the race baiting because you guys take the bait every time and they get more hits. There are two active stories on Queerty about Maggie Gallagher going around on national television spreading her bigotry on every network that will have her and they have combined total of 60 comments and about 4.300 views The story about Alveda King spreading and preaching her bigotry has 101 comments and half the views. Remember the story about the black lady who wanted to sue her church because they support and perform gay marriages and she didn’t like it? Well, where was the story about the church? Where was the feature on this black married couple who head a black church who not only welcome but actively reach out to LGBT people so they don’t have to sit in a church and listen to a pastor preach a homophobic sermon?? All we cared about was the black lady and her “black homophobia” and furthering this myth that homophobia is a black thing.. SMH.. Homophobia, religious double standards, fear and ignorance are things that plague every community. We all know it but for some reason we still choose to scapegoat the black community as a whole for the actions of delusional, religious and homophobic blacks and it doesn’t help us.

Jason also uses Mojojo, Jesse Helms, and revupman as names on Queerty…who knows what others he also has…it’s actually kinda sad because he doesn’t even have the intelligence to make his aliases sound different than “Jason”. And yet he causes all kinds of chaos in each thread anyway, upsetting the Black readers and maybe inspiring some White readers to also spout whatever racial hatred they may have. Sad, racist, stupid little man, who nevertheless has absolutely turned this site upside down. Am I the only one who’s noticed how the tone has shifted here over the past few months and we have near race riots in these threads now? Does anyone aside from Jeffree and Shannelle above care?? It really is no longer fun being here…I gotta get a new blog to be addicted to….

@CONVERSATION CHAMBER: Oops…you caught on too. Sorry, I should maybe read all responses first. But it doesn’t matter what we do CC, because tomorrow there will be a new thread about race and he and his aliases will hijack that and make us all hate each other again…I really just need to stick to Morning Goods or something…

@CONVERSATION CHAMBER: Did you even read ambwww’s links or do you automatically assume who it was. A lot of people are getting sick of racial and ethnic minorities who hide behind their race to excuse their own racism, anti-semitism, and homophobia.

The proprietor of one of those blogs linked by ambwww (aliciabanks) is a black lesbian who condemns homophobia in black churches.

Until the black community condemns the homophobes in its midst, we will have to do it for them.

No. 22 (and your name Supremist says it all) first you do not do anything for black LGBT individuals concerning our community. You cannot! Unless you are black, blacks will not listen to or take you seriously. They will see you for what a lot of you are, none black self entitled people who know nothing about African Americans, our history, our struggle even to this day, our culture outseide of Hip Hop, and never fought for us ever (nd don’t give me some lame, easily debunked example of how you all have stood with the black community on anything because 1, it won’t be true and 2, none of you were present or speaking out for the Jena 6, Hurricane Katrina victims the majority who were black, The Dr. Skip Gates, Jr. situation, you weren’t at the marches during the Civil Rights movement, you weren’t standing up for the four Alabama girls who were burned to death in their church and when a black man, James Byrd, Jr. was dragged to death in Texas and you know you weren’t and still won’t stand with us rather against us) What you will try to say will fall on deaf ears so no, you can’t do anything for us or on our behalf because you are not one of us and you do not know how to engage any of us.

And as for your clearly uneducated statement that we, black LGBT people, are not addressing our community on it’s homophobia I encourage you to STOP ASSuming things, visit the following black gay blogs, Rod 2.0 beta, Pam Spaulding and LoLdarian and learn a thing a two. Your post above shows just how ill equipped and uneducated a LOT of you none black LGBT people are with respect to the black community as a whole and why you cannot and will not address the black community. We know our people and how to deal with them far better than you and contrary to what you believe but clearly do not know, we are. Stay in your community please, we will take care of our own. You’re welcome.
