@ Mike128: Yeah, just like when my straight brothers use ‘gay’ as a pejorative and call their friends ‘faggot’ and ‘cocksucker’. They’re not poking fun at gays or saying anything homophobic, just using perfectly neutral words as insults, amirite?
Bottom line: ‘tr*nny’ is a slur, and even among trans people, there’s fierce debate over which groups get to reclaim it. By virtue of not being trans, cis people (yup, even the gay ones and their fag hags) are out of the running.

@Nico: personally i would rather the term go away. i am not a car part. and no matter my emotional state it is not for YOU to tell me how i must present and in what manner my gender expression takes.
this skit reminds me a lot of conversations that i had early in my transition among my friends (gamers mostly)… gamers as a whole are a little trans and homo phobic… not because of being bad people but more because they are so easily roped into socio-cultural phenomenon such as using “fag” “gay” and other phrases as slurs (do not get me started on the trans slurs in the gamer culture)
most gamers are more then apologetic when you explain why these things are offensive and hurtful, and the vast majority of gamers will after being educated (ugh) turn out to be steadfast allies to us all.

@nico: i think the whole point of the video is that she thinks her language is cool while he clearly knows it’s passe. her character is parroting the language that’s out there in the media while his response is pretty much a “wtf?”
