Michael Verdugo just got a taste of reality.
The Floridian police officer, who also appeared on HGTV’s Design Star, has been put on administrative leave after colleagues discovered his porny past. Verdugo and his lawyer, however, say the 1996 skin flick has nothing to do with his current career. They also claim the officer faced anti-gay harassment after coming out:
“He’s a great cop with a distinguished record of serving this community for many years,” said Al Milian, Verdugo’s attorney.
…
“I think every police officer during their career are subject to investigations. The overwhelming number of allegations are always found to be unfounded,” Milian said.Milian said that ever since Verdugo’s sexual orientation was revealed in 2004, he has dealt with discrimination and harassment.
“I think when you have a certain lifestyle in the 21st century, you’re always going to be subject to heightened scrutiny,” Milian said.
Milian did not say whether Verdugo did, in fact, appear in the film. If any of you guys – or girls – know which film and can provide a clip, well, we’d be very grateful…

So he made a porn movie 12 years ago and suddenly he’s discharged for that ? Surely, his sexuality had nothing to do with that, right ?
This is shameful, he did nothing illegal yet he’s being punished for doing porn ages ago. Why not fire cops for being bigots as well ? Oh, I forgot, if that happened there would be almost no one to protect us. Foolish me !

“Mikey V appears to have starred in Rope Rituals, a bondage video, under the name Jeremy Wess. Though there may be some question as to whether it’s him, a video preview on Xtube (NSFW) may let you decide for yourself.”

Spoiler: It’s not very hot.

This has nothing to do with sexual orientation. Most film and television stars sign contracts, and most contracts, I believe, still have morality clauses in them. That clause is more about how the image of say being a porn star will hurt the image of the channel. There is a reason you don’t see a cross over of people from porn to legit Hollywood. It’s considered taboo. You can say well that’s not fair. It’s a free country. And, it is. He was free do porn. They are free to suspend him because they are worried about what his actions means for their business.

^^Pretty much, yeah. But DAMN, he’s hot…

Yeah its him, Classics 2:Rope Rituals & trained to Obey. Isn’t it sad though how F*cking puritanical this country is. ” lifestyle in the 21st century” If only, I think its about time the 20th century norms and way of thinking start to say goodbye forever. And that can only happen as more old timers start to go away.

It’s a bondage film, I think ROPES was the title, I found a forum discussing it. MikeyV is posed in one shot ready to take it up the butt.
I think HGTV leaked this porn past because they knew he was eliminated and popular, so they smeared him 2 days before the elimination show aired….NO COINCIDENCE.
I stopped going to HGTV forum, and really don’t give a crap who wins, and I hope the show dies a painful death before 2009.

Crazylove – The article is stating it was the police department who suspended him, not the TV show. As his actions 12 years ago have nothing to do with being a police officer, and the ongoing harassment he has endured since he came out 4 years ago, yeah, this is all about sexual orientation.

opps I misread

MikeyV
It’s total BULLSH*T that either HGTV or the police dept tossed you, or suspended you.
Vanessa Williams, survived and became sucessful, and you can too.

What does that have to do with the police department suspending him?
Jaroslaw
Police departments and government jobs have morality clauses, conduct unbecoming the dept. etc.

It would seem to me that sex with the fabulous Chris McKenzie would be reward in and of itself for Mikey V.. Possibly the best thing that could happen to him – it clears the decks for the design career we wants to pursue and makes all of us South Florida queens want to pursue him.

PS @ Jaroslaw
Uh… what about ex-post-facto? He wasnt in the service when he did the movie…

I didn’t read carefully who suspended him, but the fact is there are morality clauses in a lot of contracts for employment. Porn is normally one of those things. I don’t understand, to be frank, why anyone would want to do porn if they have other dreams they want to achieve. I can see doing it for someone or someones with whom you are personally in a relationship and know but not for general public consumption because there is that risk. And I got to admit I do question the morals of porn stars- sorry to offend.

If you’re gonna do porn videos, do them when you’re young, hung and ripped. time and gravity aren’t your friends…just saying
Vicente Fox
I thought porn stars usually had big weiners. How did he make the cut?
RPCV
Just like Roman Ragazzi and Darren “GI Joe Medic who outed himself” Manzella (or whatever the hell his last name is), I have no sympathy for Verdugo. All 3 deserved what they got……..
Jaroslaw
I wish I had seen you response RPCV when this blog was current, probably no one will see the now but just in case; (and this is sad, because we’ve agreed on a number of things)
But what in the Hell does your ignorant ass mean “they got what they deserved?” Porn is a legal activity and it has NOTHING to do with this guy’s job as a police officer.
Besides even if it did, most people don’t get what they deserve. The people all up in arms about the morality of this need to get what THEY deserve – like take some of this energy and money wasted on nothing topics like this and help the people in their communities who don’t have jobs, health insurance, kids who go to poor schools etc.
Jesus himself talked about people looking at the speck in their brother’s eye and missing the LOG in their own.
