Hate to be the one to break it to you, but you’ve got it all wrong about the anti-gay covenant that Crystal Cathedral, in Orange County, is demanding its choir members sign in order to sing. I mean, have you read the thing? Among its clauses (which Senior Pastor Sheila Schuller Coleman, pictured, has already apologized for) in one that reads, “I understand that Crystal Cathedral Ministries teaches that sexual intimacy is intended by God to only be within the bonds of marriage, between one man and one woman.” I mean, how can you think that line targets the gays? Allow church spokesman John Charles to explain: “We’re asking people to follow the teachings of Christianity, and this is what we believe. We take the biblical view. I think [choir members] are taking it as anti-gay when that is not the full intent. It’s anyone who has a promiscuous lifestyle.” See! It’s only the partial intent to craft a homophobic document. And as we all know, every gay leads a “promiscuous lifestyle,” because every gay has a penis or a vagina, and know how to abuse them FOR SEX!

If they really took the “Biblical view”, Sheila Schuller would not be Pastor of the church. St Paul made it clear in the Bible that women are not to teach and should remain silent in the churches. But that’s just one of those many inconvenient Biblical texts that has been quietly discarded over the past century because it’s “outdated”.

I still have a tiny soft spot in my heart for that ridiculous Church. I worked on Carol (Sheila’s sister) Schuller’s disastrous
“Creation”, which was an $8 Million-dollar super-spectacular about a Flying Dingy or something.
It was so bad even the Congregation wouldn’t go see it, and in spite of having $8 million of Church funds to spend, the costumes alone went $40,000 over budget.
But it paid for my Gay Wedding, so at least some good came of it.
But oh dear! those poor, poor Audiences!
