Whoever said a good gay porno couldn’t change the world? One man seems to think so, and he’s planning on saving the lives of Russian LGBTs with one hardcore flick at a time.
Mike Kulich, the owner of adult film distribution company Monarchy Distribution announced plans this week to create an “all male” porn studio that will donate 100% of profits to help gay Russian refugees seek asylum in the U.S. and Canada.
“I have always created porn for profit. This will be the first studio I launch that will give back to the LGBT community,” Kulich told XBiz yesterday. “While the advancements of gay rights in the U.S. have changed our society for the better, the setbacks abroad (particularly in Russia) made me see that this type of project was a necessity. I want to help the people suffering all over the world and living in persecuting countries using the best way I know how: making quality porn.”
The new studio, Boys Town Studios, plans to release two films per month covering “twinks, bears, leather and other niche fetishes.” 100% of profits made from the studio’s DVD and VOD sales will directly benefit Kulich’s “newly-created non-profit.”
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Kulich says “anyone will be able to write Boys Town Studios and tell their stories about how bigotry and homophobia has affected their lives, and we will step into help those victims as much as we can.”
Monarchy Distribution, which primarily handles the sale of straight porn titles, doesn’t currently have a site set up for Boys Town Studios or Kulich’s “new nonprofit.” Kulich claims to be in pre-production with his first title, Deep In The Dark, which is scheduled for an October release.

Dear Queerty,
This is a very important issue – you demean it by reprinting press releases from gay businesses about some silly PR stunt.

Altoug I wouldn’t fully support this venue for helping persecuted GLBT victims around the world, this shows what happens when most of the free wussy countries (USA?) sit on their hands and do nothing! All the best to Monarchy Distribution in this venture!

@Dakotahgeo: Although*

@fagburn: you demean your comment by having a username “fagburn”

I made a trucker DVD a while back if you’d like to put it in your list of releases 😀
paulodwyer
What a joke. There is no organization dedicated to assisting LGBT Russians seek asylum elsewhere to whom they can donate their profits.
Dakotahgeo
@paulodwyer: IF… you had understood the story, you would KNOW that this project is in the works as we read/speak! It is “IN the PROCESS” of being developed. See? Now it all becomes crystal clear, right? (Unnngh!).
fagburn
Will they publish their accounts?

@paulodwyer:
Then it would seem that the first order of business is to create one.
Several years ago when Ayaz Marhoni and Mahmoud Asgari were hung to death in Iran for being gay (despite later attempts to recover that pr disaster by the regime) I attended a protest in NYC outside the Iranian embassy and when I returned home spent several months putting together an interfaith vigil for LBGTQ youth that partially focused on the Iranian travesty. Held in a Spiritualist church, hosted by a Wiccan congregation and with additional attendees from 2 Christian faiths, Reform Judaism and Buddhism the small vigil (about 50 total) went off on a Thursday (read that as work) night, followed by a potluck and then a Wiccan ritual to remember the spirits of the dead, which some attendees who were not WIccan also participated in, while most non-Wiccans thanked us and left. Shortly thereafter I discovered than an organization had been formed to help Iranian Queer Refugees escape (Now IRQR http://english.irqr.net/) What I’m saying is, if there isn’t a place to put funds to help gay kids escape Russia yet, HELP MAKE ONE, don’t b*tch.

@fagburn: Your screen name is bizarre, I’m not sure what it indicates, but I would guess you are not gay, or if you are, given the history you have a very strange sense of what is right and wrong.

@Hermes: Thank you, and Kudos!! Dak!

@fagburn: I agree- this appears to be nothing more than a glorified press release. If the article outlined how money would be used or where it was going, maybe I would think differently. But anyone can say, “Hey- I’m selling X for charity/cause.” We need to know what that really means.
tdx3fan
@rhysftm: No. Claiming to your buyers that proceeds will go to charity and the not donating them is exploitation and false advertising. It is completely illegal.
