This post is part of a series of Queerty interviews with models, trainers, dancers, and, well, people who can inspire the rest of us to stay in shape.
Name: David Perez, 24 (@perezworld_)
Occupation, besides training: I am a full-time payroll administrator for a car dealership.
Home: Palm Springs
Favorite Gym: My favourite gym for working out is EOS in Palm Desert.
Work Out Song: I listen to 21 savage and Bad Bunny station to pump me up before every lift.
Work-Out Foods: The best food to eat prior to a workout is zero per cent Greek yogurt, grits, blueberries and honey.
Favorite athletic outfit: The best outfit to wear when working out is clothes that makes you feel you look good in. So if you look in the mirror, you’re motivated to finish your workout.
How do you balance staying in shape and having fun? I balance having fun and staying in shape by surrounding myself with people who have the same goals and also by not indulging in foods that will keep me from achieving my goals.
Tip for staying in shape: Make your plan fit your life: A gym isn’t needed to stay fit or be healthy.

I’m not saying that he doesn’t look good. However with most 24 year olds if they go to the gym and don’t eat like shit already look that way.
Do a feature on say a 54 year-old and then you’ll turn my head and say wow. That shit works! Of course Queerty would rather gnaw off their own leg than do that.

@ChrisK: Exactly… He’s genetically blessed. @ 24 most people look decent/good/fricking amazing. Let’s fast forward 20-30-40+ years and see how Mr.Thang looks-either still handsome or OMG – WTF happened? Cause some people’s looks peak early and it’s downhill form there. Of course ,having 10 thick inches I’ll always be “popular”.. Though I DO work @ staying in shpe- it’s damn hard work but SO worth it… Happy, Healthy ,Hard & Horny !!
Chrisk
Also at 24 your testosterone levels and metabolism are at its highest. At that age you really don’t have to do much to keep yourself in shape. Fu*ckers 🙁
So yes we have to work 10x as hard to get anywhere near that and yes it’s still worth it.

typo: ..I DO work @ staying in SHAPE ….

David, you look great and congrats on starting out with discipline and realizing what will help you attain the return on the time you invest in yourself. Keep up the lifestyle and hopefully it’ll follow you well into your 30,40,50+ years. Is tough when life/career really begins to happen throughout those years. (This is from a former marathon runner). Your body reacts differently as you age.

Thank you so much! I understand.

Wow, this guy looks great, but then again, he’s only 24! it’s true that if you eat right and begin taking care of yourself when you’re young, the rewards can last a lifetime. With me it began at 26 when I came out. Having been a fat kid ballooning up to 378 LBS at my peak, coming out literally saved my life. I began serious dieting and joined a gym. I lost a great deal of weight immediately in that I dumped a bunch of so called ‘friends’ when I came out who thought being gay was a joke. Fast forward, over the years, taking care of my self hasn’t been easy. There were ups and downs of course. Losing weight and maintaining the weight loss requires constant vigilance. Having to go through a double spinal fusion a few years ago due to degenerative joint desease due to being too heavy for much of my childhood was difficult but in the long run, the pain is gone!. I got back to the gym ASAP and now i’m moving on. I’ll say this in conclusion, looking back over the years, If I hadn’t seen the light of day (coming out) at 26, only God knows what I’d look like today. If I hadn’t had the incentive and drive to lose the weight, I’d probably have some of the maladies associated with being heavy. When I started the ‘journey’ I remember going to the gym 7 days a week for at least 2 hours, come rain or shine. When the weight started coming off, this encouraged me to continue. There were times i was so hungry i could have eaten cardboard, the harder my workouts became and when I plateaued I persevered. It hasn’t been easy, but anything worthwhile in life isn’t easy. If it was, more people would be doing worthwhile things that made their lives better!

I agree! Thank you, and I cannot imagine what you’ve been through. For myself I was always picked on for being “too skinny” and when I wanted to compete in competitive soccer for college, that’s what they saw. I skinny kid. I was constantly told to gain more and more. However, if it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t had pushed myself as hard as I did. I am truly blessed for every comment and struggle I went through. Yes at 24 I have the ability to get “a bod” faster than those who are older. However if you’re committed and discipline yourself, anyone can a achieve anything.

People can be amazingly transparent.
“The best outfit to wear when working out is clothes that makes you feel you look good in. So if you look in the mirror, you’re motivated to finish your workout.”
It’s not about health.
It’s not about discipline.
It’s not about strength.
It’s not about ability.
It’s all about the mirror.
Michael1500
YOU are the one who’s “transparent.” There’s always one of you in every group—- the negative, bitchy one, who’s always the fly in the tea and the roach in the cereal. The guy was just referencing a motivational “tool” to finish the workout. You’re totally off base.

@corestrength…….
You hit the nail on the head with that comment. Its all about the mirror and how far out and round those buns are. lol
Vince
Go to any gym and you’ll see them. The ones that find their reflection mesmerizing. The same ones walking around FaceTiming all their friends.
perezworld
What do you see in a mirror? When you to the gym, do you not stare at the mirror? Do you not judge yourself or tell yourself “I need to work on this…”
That’s obvious that being fit and healthy includes all that, however if you show up to the gym with negative vibes, you won’t have a great workout. Many times an outfit can change the way someone might feel.
Bob LaBlah
Meh. I’ve seen MUCH hotter better built latino guys on x-hamsterlive.com wearing garter belts and stockings. In todays world his body is a dime a dozen. You gotta have a gimmick and that’s what he lacks.
perezworld
Yet, you took time to comment so something obviously caught your attention. There are many guys who look better than I do, however I’m not in competition with them.
I lack many things but gimmick is not one.
