Last week we took a hard-hitting look at some unthinkably perfect ’70s men’s fashion choices, and you’d better believe we were inspired.
With the weather changing and Summer growing ever more distant in the rearview mirror, it’s a perfect opportunity to look forward by looking back. Specifically, at the fabulously disastrous sweaters from a 1980s catalogue appropriately named Wit Knits.
And boy are they witty.
Truth be told, we’d wear a good number of these today. OK, all of them.

I guess I have a different perspective on what disastrous is because i didn’t find all of these a disaster. Personally, i found the second one from the bottom quite cute and the keyboard one, minus the scarf, very wearable

I work fashion retail and I know a few 17-22 year olds who could pull these off, possibly even in a non ironic way

@PabloBravo8: Lol, and awesome!

I think everyone is missing the best part, that’s Joanna Lumley modeling the sunglasses cow and fox hunter.

Queerty is determined to embarrass those of us who lived through those decades, isn’t it?

#11 Mister Pink and Grey his nod to “champagne wishes and caviar dreams.”
but more like “canned tuna and warm kool aide.” These are too much, i grew up in the 80s and I didn’t see any this bad…Ha Ha

@Partybird: I thought that was her. I loved how she used to poke fun at her modelling past in Absolutely Fabulous.

As with Queerty’s alleged 70s fashions, these are clothes that nobody ever wore, even as a joke. The only joke here is that Queerty is apparently oblivious to the models being fairly high-profile British actors – not just Johanna Lumley, but the late, great Richard Briers (of The Good Life) and the not-so-great Christopher Biggins.

If these were put on the shelves at Nordstroms and put a $200 price tag on them, they would be sold in a heart beat. This is the fashion people are loving right now. There are a few in the mix I could pull off.
