LGBTQ+ people face an incarceration rate that is roughly three times higher than the general incarceration rate, according to data compiled by the Williams Institute. And the 2015 U.S. Transgender Survey reported that Black transgender women were incarcerated approximately at a rate ten times that of the general population.
