It’s one thing to come out of the closet, but declaring you’re a “raging homosexual” takes a special kind of self love — one that singer Ryan Beatty has clearly found.
The 20-year-old “Like Me Or Not” singer made the announcement on Instagram, the chosen medium for breaking news for the under 25 crowd.
“proud to be a raging homosexual,” Beatty wrote, sharing a photo of a couple with a pink balloon that says “Gay Power.”
“it’s taken 20 years of suffocating in the closet for me to become comfortable enough to say it,” he added. “but now I can finally breathe. i did it!”
Here’s the Insta-reveal:
But not to let other social media outlets feel neglected, he took to Twitter a few hours later to add some some color commentary:
“damn. i’m so grateful to have friends and family that support me and just want me to be happy,” he wrote. “that’s unconditional love. thank you to anyone who’s reached out to me with the supportive words. I’m so happy.”
In a later tweet, he reiterated, “I’m so happy I’m gay.”
Beatty gained traction in 2012 with his first EP, Because Of You, and toured with Cody Simpson that same year.
He’s releasing his new single “Passion” on July 1.

The headline should be “Raging Homosexual Comes Out as Singer” – who even is he?
zooby
Who?
zooby
Good for him though. If he can do it at age 20 when his career is taking off, these grown men who are closeted really have NO excuse.

@Pistolo: LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL Now that’s comedy!

Raging Homosexual? Good on you, Ryan. You have a pretty good handle on fabulous too.

“Who?” comments are annoying.

@DarkZephyr: “______ are annoying” comments are annoying.

20 year old performer comes out as gay. Bitchy, self-hating gays pounce.
Prinny
Who?

@Prinny: @zooby: Ryan Beatty. I mean…it says his name in the damn headline.
Oh…wait. You assume that only musicians you have personally heard of matter…so you’re petty and entitled, not illiterate. Too bad…at least something can be done about illiteracy…

I believe these days the toaster oven comes with a high definition tv.

@Josh in OR: I hope the OR in your name stands for “over-reaction.” Calm down, queen. Ryan, is that you?
Billy Budd
He is cute. I hope he finds a beautiful boyfriend and increases his raging condition even more.

@zooby: Awww. It thinks it’s witty, acting like it has a leg to stand on. Don’t like being called out for being a petty, patronizing boor who brings nothing to the table but jaded, entitled non-sequiturs? Don’t act like one.
By all means, though, please show where I over reacted when I pointed out your obnoxious behavior. I’d love to see if you can produce a coherent thought, but i think, judging by your posts to this thread, that all you’ll do is continue thinking your ‘snark’ makes you seem witty and cool while the rest of us understand that you act the fool on the interwebs because anonymity makes you feel like a big boy.
Meantime, good for Ryan Beatty. I’ve never heard of him before today, and odds are he’s not for me, but it’s good to see a performer come out at the START of a career rather than the end. I don’t have to be a fan to wish him well.
Sluggo2007
Never heard of him.
