Texas Gov. Rick Perry Likens Homosexuality To Alcoholism, Remains Fox News Favorite

esq-rick-perry-gun-061711-xlgTexas Governor Rick Perry admittedly does not know whether gay “reparative therapy” actually works, but he does know one thing for certain: Gays are like alcoholics, and they should just choose to stop drinking.

Perry’s comments were made during a speech to the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco last night. He’s been peddling this belief since at least 2008, when he said in his first book “On My Honor” that homosexuality could be equated to alcoholism, is a “sexual dysfunction,” and gays should choose to remain abstinent.

Perry, who recently announced support for access to “reparative therapy” in Texas (a practice banned by law in California) and previously opposed the Boy Scout’s new inclusive policy for gay scouts, reaffirmed his asinine position while answering whether he believed homosexuality is a disorder:

“Whether or not you feel compelled to follow a particular lifestyle or not, you have the ability to decide not to do that. I may have the genetic coding that I’m inclined to be an alcoholic, but I have the desire not to do that, and I look at the homosexual issue the same way.”

They say everything’s bigger in Texas, which explains why the state’s governor is one of the biggest morons in political history.

Speaking of morons — Fox News published an article covering the event this morning, alleging that Ricky Perry “reportedly” compared homosexuality to alcoholism. Even though this observation is a fact, the conservative news giant chose to cover Perry’s comments from an angle that presented the San Francisco Chronicle‘s “reported” version of events.

Fox News competitors ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN all reported the same event in a matter-of-fact way.
