OUT WITH A BANG

WATCH: Jim Parsons And Partner Todd Spiewak Accept GLSEN’s Inspiration Award For Raising Awareness Of Bullying

The mantle of actor Jim Parsons is now even more crowded. The out star of The Big Bang Theory, who has already collected three Emmy awards and numerous other trophies as best actor for the hit CBS sitcom, was awarded GLSEN’s Inspiration award along with longtime partner, art director Todd Spiewak.

The annual event, hosted by the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN), honored people who help to make schools safer by educating students and teachers about the effects of bullying. Parsons, who says he was never seriously bullied as a kid, spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the importance of the combatting the bullying epidemic.

“I’m very happy with where I am today and the idea that someone might not have such a positive experience in school is heartbreaking and angering because everyone deserves to feel as free as possible,” Parsons told EW. ”Everyone deserves to be who they are and figure out what it is they want to do in life and I think GLSEN really has a big impact in making that happen for people that haven’t been feeling that way.”
