It’s been 15 years in the making and has come out at time when there has been such a shift in these issues coming to the mainstream.
The story is so beautiful and the people from the trans community I met in preparing for the part were incredibly generous. It has been a privilege and, while not in any way talking for the community, I’m trying to learn to be an ally.”
—Eddie Redmayne, racking up scores of excellent reviews and best actor award nominations for his role as trans pioneer Lili Elbe in The Danish Girl, speaking about the film on The Graham Norton Show

I never imagined Eddie Redmayne would one day be this successful.
Interesting arc watching his career trajectory. (Maybe less of an arc at this point and more like a rocket)

He can be my ally any time he wants.
Masc Pride
He really wants that Golden Globe. lol
Kangol
He does an excellent job in the role. I can see him getting a second Oscar nomination this year.
Ummmm Yeah
Then he is a fool. They will turn on him like they do everyone else and each other. They are nothing but chaos and destruction and will always be miserable.

This is a terrific movie! I went out of idle curiosity, not knowing what to expect. Check it out.
Derek Perron
I don’t need to make a movie to be an ally. Just be one.
Alex Goodman
Probably cares more about the trans community then Jenner
Judith Selsby
Redmayne’s performance was movingly sympathetic, and once again Oscar worthy.

why is straight actors play LGBT roles and then want to be our heroes and allies. We can’t find any LGBT actors and rally around them? They always win awards for their courage or transformation. Give the LGBT actors the damn awards!

This guy has such a likable face and demeanor in interviews. I’m really intrigued by him. Never heard of him until Queerty did an article a while back. Thanks, Q.

@Ummmm Yeah:
Love Eddie Redmayne.
He stole that Marilyn movie from Michelle Williams, was wonderful in Les Misserables, and definitely earned that Oscar as Steven Hawkings suffering from ALS. but I think after Leto in “Dallas Buyers Club,” Cox in “Orange,” Tambor in “Transparent,” and the now ever-present Jenner sucking all the oxygen out of the room, getting an award for doing trans might just be getting old.
Besides, it’s time Michael Fassbender got a trophy for either. 2015’s “Steve Jobs” or his new “Macbeth,” take your pick.

… And that second oscar #justsaying
Robert Small
He should earn a Oscar for his performance
