I have cast my absentee ballot and I voted for Cindy Sheehan, who is challenging Pelosi. Pelosi is not a true Dem to represent San Francisco.
I think the Democrats need to be upfront and honest with Gays by saying that MOST OF AMERICA do not support Gay Marriage and we will lose the election every time we run on that ticket, no matter how unpopular the Republican in Office is. I sometimes wonder if Gay Marriage is a Republican ruse to keep Democrats out of office. Now THAT would be a conspiracy theory. Anti-gay "wedge" issues contributed to Democrat losses in 2000 and 2004 and I fully understand why National Leaders are not willing to fall on a sword for us, leaving it to the State-based Democratic Superstars like SF Mayor Gavin Newsom and New York Governor David Paterson (both straight!). Some folks, including Petrelis, need to get a grip! Pelosi is hugely pro-gay, including pro-gay marriage. She's been an outspoken opponent of Prop 8 and every anti-gay measure out there. Why does she need to put that in her re-election mailer? She's in a hugely liberal district – it's not like putting it in there would hurt her; it just wasn't relevant to her re-election. For God's sake – quit trying to make enemies out of our allies!
