A Bit Dramatic?
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s election mailer doesn’t say anything about her opposition to Proposition 8, the ballot measure intending to overturn gay marriage in California, nor does the Democrats’ website. These absences lead gay activist Michael Petrelis to conclude Pelosi has a negative message for the gays: “Drop Dead.” [Petrelis Files]
Hum…don’t we see this a lot with democrats? Ugg…I don’t know who is worse, the republicans for hating us outwrite or the democrats who promise us stuff and then convientely forget only to remember next election cycle.
Those of us who are thinking clearly know we are better off with the Democrats in this far from perfect country.
Speaker Pelosi could make up for her omission…after all the California Democratic Party officially opposes Prop. 8 – (she could say something)…by donating to “No on 8″ along with any other U.S. National at the following web address:

Of course we’re better off with the Dems than with the Rethugs. But ignoring that either/or comparison – Nancy “impeachment-is-off-the-table” Pelosi is scum.
I have cast my absentee ballot and I voted for Cindy Sheehan, who is challenging Pelosi. Pelosi is not a true Dem to represent San Francisco.
I think the Democrats need to be upfront and honest with Gays by saying that MOST OF AMERICA do not support Gay Marriage and we will lose the election every time we run on that ticket, no matter how unpopular the Republican in Office is. I sometimes wonder if Gay Marriage is a Republican ruse to keep Democrats out of office. Now THAT would be a conspiracy theory. Anti-gay “wedge” issues contributed to Democrat losses in 2000 and 2004 and I fully understand why National Leaders are not willing to fall on a sword for us, leaving it to the State-based Democratic Superstars like SF Mayor Gavin Newsom and New York Governor David Paterson (both straight!). It’ll only take a few months for Gays to turn on President Obama in office as the Republicans and their media mouthpieces always determine the agenda. Some folks, including Petrelis, need to get a grip! Pelosi is hugely pro-gay, including pro-gay marriage. She’s been an outspoken opponent of Prop 8 and every anti-gay measure out there. Why does she need to put that in her re-election mailer? She’s in a hugely liberal district – it’s not like putting it in there would hurt her; it just wasn’t relevant to her re-election. For God’s sake – quit trying to make enemies out of our allies!
When I first looked at that picture – I thought it was Nancy Reagan.
