And Now Elton John Compares Himself to Jesus

[flv:http://www.queerty.com/wp/docs/2010/02/eltonrespondsjesus.flv http://www.queerty.com/wp/docs/2010/02/eltonjesusbug.jpg 650 300]

It’s not that Elton John believes Jesus is gay. It’s that he believes him to be “compassionate and forgiving,” because “that’s my idea of faith.” And yet: “That’s not how he definitely was.” So long as you also understand that’s how Elton also sees himself. The similarities are disturbing!

      WTF???

Queerty, did you even bother to listen to what Elton actually said? Did you bother to actually read the Parade article? Or did you just go with Bill O’Reilly attack piece?

Keep on singing Elton; he is truly one of God’s great accomplishments!

      Oh, my.

All Elton John really said was that he sees himself and what he aspires to be and the person that he is in the god that he serves.

As someone who has studied all sorts of religion, he’s pretty much right, actually. It’s not God that created man in His image, it’s that people and societies see and “create” god(s) in their view of the world.

And as soon as the words “Jesus” and “Gay” were put anywhere near the same stratosphere of course it became “the fag said Jesus was a fag too”……..If you read the Parade article, they removed every reference from it…………

      My take exactly, Mike.

I guess Queerty just proved the old adage. We see and hear exactly what we want to see and hear. Obviously Queerty does not like Elton.

I too say, “Keep on singing, Elton”.

      @ #1 & #4:

You both took the words out of my mouth.

I find it funny that an opinion source like Queerty loves to bash on others for mis-representation of facts and “news”, but they themselves do it all the damn time.

I take back my initial comments when this was first reported.

I understand what he is saying. It really sounds like Parade took his words and reworked them to make it sound as though Jesus was gay.

I don’t, however, take back the part where I said Jesus is beyond male or female.

I’m not sure what Elton meant, but i think Jesus was cool. Any guy that can wear togas all the time and have 12 Personal Assistants HAS to be cool.

He (Elton) is probably feeling a bit like Brian – from the Life of Brian. You know, the scene where a bunch of ‘followers’ chase him and Brian falls into a cave with a hermit in it. The hermit hasn’t spoken in 15 years due to a vow of silence. Brian inadvertently pisses the hermit off to the point where the hermit says something. Then the hoard arrives. The hermit, mad as a hatter, says, “I haven’t spoken in 15 years and he made me speak,” at which point the followers say, “A miracle!”

I didn’t see the interview but of course Jesus was gay. What was the gender of his Beloved, huh? The One who Jesus loved? Looked like a guy to me. Jesus was constantly challenging the patriarchy – and isn’t that queer, too? When he ran into a Samaritan woman (a Samaratan – and a woman!) who was living in what must have been the first recorded domestic partnership he flirts with her. Jesus is constantly offering moral support and more to women who His society deem are doing what they are not supposed to. Straght guys would just condemn them.

@Chitown Kev: Well said honey. Being an agnostic I too take the stance it was man who created god, not the other way around.
