Christian Pastors v. Christian Pastors: Birmingham’s Ex-Gay Showdown

A Christian pastor throwing down against other Christians that “hijack” the word of God to discriminate against gays? Loves it. The Rev. J.R. Finney, of Birmingham’s Covenant Community Church, is Queerty‘s favorite person today. He was out there with Truth Wins Out demonstrating against Focus on the Family’s last Love Won Out ex-gay conference at the Metro Church of God, which it’s handing off to Exodus International because of budget problems.

Rev. J.R. Finney is what I would consider a true Christian. May more religious leaders like him emerge and speak ojut.

If there is a God, and He created all mankind and animals, and He is infallible, as Christians seem to believe, then God created homosexuality, and it is part of His plan.

And J.R. Finney is a true mensch. It is those like him who must be fighting with us for our rights. We don’t have to all believe in God, but we cannot afford to push away our allies and those of us within our community who do. They are still on our side. Yes, even pro-gay Muslims (find me some and I’ll gladly welcome them into the fight for our rights if they’re willing to join).
