@Jimi: He actually does support gay marriage. He personally intervened to change government policy. Gay marriage is to be legalised in the UK by 2015 although religious groups still won’t be able to perform legally binding marriage for gay couples.

Although to our community this picture is a great show of support, as a lesbian and an active LGBT citizen things of this sort actually detour people from helping our cause. Things of this sort is what other voters of a homophobic degree continue to not help in our search for equal rights. People who are supportive of our cause do not need to be depicted as one of us. It is of most usefulness to leave them as they are showing that we do not expect them to be gay the same way we do not expect to be straight. If our community continues to do things of this sort, our causes will only take longer. Some LGBT would love to marry the person they love before they die. It is most helpful to support our supporters as they support us.
