Gossip Girl last night aired a pretty satisfying coming out episode.
As we all already know, Serena's super-little brother Erik found his way out of the closet – and with predictably sensational results.
After the jump, some via Towleroad video from the episode. Bonus points if someone can get us the actual scene of Michelle Trachtenberg's character outing him at the dinner table, which proved to us how evil this girl is – shockingly, we're not avid fans of this show, although the final scene made us want to tune in next week.

I don't watch this show regularly, but last nights ep. was amazingj
big deal! eeeww!
It's really such a shame that the one guy who spams Queerty mercilessly with his blog URL has nothing positive to say about a talented young actor who's deftly carried a whole L&O:SVU ep, among other things. Anyway…
"Pretty White Teens Fucking" a/k/a Gossip Girl isn't precisely the venue I have in mind when I awake, envisioning 'greater visibility' for us, but with the feeble showing on the other soaps for young gays (think 'Nuke'), and a decent actor in the role, I hope the girls stay out of the picture and the kid remains in upcoming storylines.
Whether he's attractive to some people is quite immaterial when we can count on one hand the number of young gay characters on ALL OF NETWORK TELEVISION. As long as we don't get hung up on how often he engages in some PDA, he's a good addition to a needed demographic.
The real question is, will GLAAD count both 'Asher' and 'Eric' as openly gay characters on a network television show? If so, we are plus 2. And even more when 'Eric' ventures into Chelsea… or will it be Hells Kitchen?
After the devestating cancellation of The OC, rich white teenagers need something to aspire to. After all, I'm sure their petty little problems are very important…to them.
Why are we discriminating against ditzy blondes and their arrogant-jerk boyfriends?
It's hard to consider Asher as openly gay, considering that he's still a closet case. And Eric is pretty underage (though somehow that hasn't stopped many of the show's other characters from getting into bars and being served alcohol) so I doubt we'll be seeing him at any of the local gay dives.
But the more serious flaw is the network's unwillingness to put any teeth into Eric's announcement that he's gay: We never get to see the action. And no hint or reference to actual sex is ever made. It was only one kiss, and even that we don't see on screen.
