I’ve Got 147 Queer Films That I Want You To See. You In?

You’re invited!

Outfest, the Los Angeles film festival devoted to movies where boys kiss boys and girls kiss girls, kicks off its 28th season Thursday night — and Queerty wants to see you there!

Squeezed into a week and a half (July 8-18), we’ve got feature films (60 of ‘em), shorts (87 of those), and discussion panels (more than a dozen) with filmmakers and tastemakers. But tomorrow night is when the fun stars, with the opening night gala featuring James Franco as Allen Ginsberg in Howl. (You can still get tickets here.)

It’s easy to find great films that fit around your schedule by visiting the Festival Schedule and clicking on a date that you’ve got free. Or view the entire selection alphabetically.

And don’t forget to grab your tickets to “A Conversation With Jane Lynch,” where the Glee star will answer your questions about things like, uh, Party Down!

We’ll be following along throughout Outfest, bringing you previews, reviews, sneak views, and TwitPics of our shoes!

Gay films? By gay filmmakers? With discussion boards? Wow. Outfest must be rockin’ with the motto of showing gay films that begin discussion…

I was honored when they asked to screen my controversial…oh, wait.

THEY DIDN’T. (a few inside sources told me they didn’t because of political reasons.)

So, I say to Outfest: I’m a gay filmmaker, with one of the most talked about gay films of the last few years, the first film to feature transgender women in lead roles, glowing reviews from John Waters, Hedda Lettuce, Michael Musto (Village Voice) and Variety.

And you didn’t take my film because it might jeopardize your standing with certain “nutjob protesters”…?

Please rethink your stance, get back to the original reason for LGBT festivals and try to remain relevant in our community.
