Joan Rivers Blesses Gay Men, Chris Hardwick Wishes He Was One

I would run down the street and do a single at a place called The Duplex [with] Woody Allen, Barbara Streisand and a guy named Barry Dennen… all on the same bill, all written in pencil ’cause they didn’t know how long you were gonna stay.

A lot of gay boys came in. Gay men were the first ones that laughed… God bless gay audiences. [They're] the most loyal to a woman. You know, they still come around. God bless them.”

Joan Rivers, talking about her early days in comedy to The Nerdist podcast host/comedian Chris Hardwick. Hardwick told Rivers “I wish I was cool enough to be gay,” in response to a question about his sexuality. (Episode no. 246, starting about 14:30.)

Two of my favorite people ever! I’m so glad Chris had Joan on his podcast – I need to check it out. “The Nerdist Podcast” is great, so this should be a fun interview.

And I agree with everyone else, Chris can feel free to try and be gay (possibly with me)! ;)
